Nervous! 4 Wks pregnant w bleeding this morning

Hi All -

Last wknd, I took 5
(just to make sure - haha!) positive pregnancy tests. Yesterday, I had an appt w my doctor, where the urine test came back negative. The Dr. said that their urine tests aren't great w early detection, so she sent me for blood work to confirm her belief that I am indeed pregnant. (An internal sonogram showed a thickened wall lining - a good sign of pregnancy, she says)

This morning (what should be day 2 of my period), I noticed some bright red blood when using the bathroom. I haven't bled since, but it has been making me feel crazy & paranoid all day! My dr.'s office is closed Fridays, so I won't hear back about the blood until Monday.

Have any of you had similar experiences? Thank you so much for any comments!

  • I had bright red once at about 6w & I have no idea what caused it! It came & went just as quick & now (touch wood) I'm almost 13w & never had it again! I think sometimes it just happens..... :o)

  • I often have a little bit of blood after transvaginal ultrasounds (even when I'm not pregnant BTW, I have regular ultrasounds to monitor fibroids). A little spotting is normal too during pregnancy. I had 3 days of spotting right around my BFP. I wouldn't worry as long as you're not actively bleeding.

  • I second the above. I have had two transvaginal ultrasounds two weeks apart and after both I had bleeding. Sometimes the day after, this last time 4 days after and blood was dark brown. My midwife says that some people bleed a bit after TV ultrasounds or even after sex when they are pregnant. It is more concerning if it is accompanied by back pain or cramping and you are bleeding through a pad an hour. Congrats on your BFP, I hope it all works out for you.

  • During early pregnancy some women experience some spotting. The only time I will get really worried if if the bleeding continues and if you see lil cloths in the blood. I took a pregnancy test a few months ago that turned out positive. Two days later I started some bleeding. I went to my doctor the next day and continued bleeding. I eventually had a miscarriage. I am now pregnant again and hoping all goes well this time around.
