Hi first time posting but was wondering on people's feeling about the flu shot. I am 33 weeks today and having an emotional roller coaster on if I should be getting this or not. My parents and sister and highly against it my husband thinks we should research but it may be the best thing for our child. I googled which is the worst thing I could do cause it talks about mercury and still births. I will be discussing this with my doctor but I don't want to make the wrong choice for my unborn son and hurt him in the long run please help!
Re: To flu shot or not to flu shot?
If you're trying to make the right choice for you and your baby maybe not start by asking a bunch of Internet strangers. Try your doctor or the CDC website.

1. No one was mean to you. Maayyybbeee a little sarcastic with the gifs, but not mean. You have to understand we get this question it seems like every.damn.day.
2. You don't know us so why would you take our advice? None of us are OB's. I wouldn't even take the advice of family members. I would only take the advice of my doctor. Period.
3. For what it's worth, I am getting the pertussis and flu vaccines next week. I am doing so because I am giving birth during flu season and because pertussis scares the living shit out of me.
Absolutely!!
Do research that includes talking with your partner (when applicable), bring that discussion to your health providers and just for good measure check out the CDC and the WHO websites.
I'm pretty sure that covers all 3 topics...
ETA: Forgot to mention the AAP's website as well.
And the mercury and stillbirth thing? Anecdotes blown up by anti-vax people. More people die from the flu itself than were ever harmed by a flu shot, especially one with killed virus. And you get more mercury getting a filling or eating tuna than you would getting one shot (especially since most aren't made with mercury any more).
And it's not like this info isn't out there, on sites like the WHO and the CDC, in nicely digested form. I'm tired of people wanting me to do their homework for them, when it's so easy to find on your own.
I used to just shake my head and let people do their own thing, but, I swear, the stupid is getting to me.
