PR: Trick or treating age

I want to take my toddler trick or treating on our block this year but it's obvious that we would be the ones eating his candy. How young is young enough to side-eye? I always think it's ridic when parents take their tiny (like, pre-walking) babies out and ask me for candy. Am I doing the same thing bringing my toddler around? He'll be 20 months.

I guess I'm lame. I love Halloween. We took DS when he was bitty bitty to a trunk or treat and have gone trick or treating every year. It's fun. To me it's about dressing up and seeing decorations and showing off and not about the candy. Candy is just a plus.

DS was 20 months at Halloween last year. He LOVED it. We let him have some of his candy spread out over the next few weeks but we mostly ate all of it.

I have always taken my kids, even when they where just teeny tiny babies. The only thing I judge is if it is really cold, and the kid does not have layers under the costume.

When my kids were under 3, we took them only to the few neighbors that we are friends with - more to just show off DD as they had all told us to bring the kids by. With the 2 kids, DH would take older DD and I just took the younger to the few houses and then came home with her and passed out candy. My girls are 7 and 5 so its been 2 years that they have both done the big Trick or Treating and its a blast! Last year was the 1st year that we went to other streets. The 2 years before, we went to my sisters and went with her kids and we did their street and then headed home while my sister and her kids (3 and 5 years older than my oldest) did way more after we left. I personally would not take a 2 year old to more than a handful of house and make it people you know.

I love seeing the little ones in their costumes, especially when it's the neighbors kids!! I don't care who's eating the candy. It's all in fun. Plus they're much cuter to look at then the teenagers coming at the door who don't even bother to dress up.

I feel like if parents dress the infant up, haul it's little butt from door to door, and have the baby not melt down fully then the parents deserve that candy.

I'm taking Connor,and I will eat every piece of chocolate that he hauls in. My 10 year old daughter can have all his "regular candy." He gets none. Mean Mommy here.

Nora was 18 months last year. We didn't really do the door-to-door thing just because of the nature of our neighborhood (busy street- not really trick or treating material). But we did dress her up and take her to some family members' homes and she got to eat a piece of candy for the first time.

All that to say that I agree with the others. I think 20 months is fine.

I see nothing wrong with taking even a baby trick or treating, I don't side eye anybody taking their kid trick or treating to me it's more about the cute costumes then it is the candy.

We plan to "trick or treat" around the block. The fun for DS will be going up to stranger's houses and ringing the bell and having them answer.

Plus he's goddamn cute. We deserve candy for having a cute kid.

We took Reese when she was 5 months, just to a couple of houses where we knew the people. Last year was Hurricane Sandy so Halloween was canceled. We plan on taking her this year. She has been practicing. She knocks on our walls/doors going "knock knock trick treat"

Yep. I think it's absolutely ridiculous to have any standards when it comes to TOT. Everyone is just having fun and its fine at any age.

I don't mind the younger ones who come up to the door for trick or treating.

What I do judge are the parents (and yes, I had a few) with a bag telling me "Oh, little Johnny is sick at home, and here is his bag:. I don't think so.
