Graco Nautilus on airplane?

I just decided to use my carseat on our flight sunday, but I know there are size restrictions for flights. Has anyone used the graco nautilus 3-1 on a southwest flight?

Thanks

  • Ugh...i highly recommend NOT using and bringing a carseat onto an airplane.  Check that beast in and babywear your child through the airport and onto the airplane.  I dont know how old/big your LO is, but it would be cheaper and less hassle to just have them ride in your lap. Bring plenty of snacks, books and whatever small items your child likes.

It is actually not recommended to wear or hold your baby on a plane anymore. In turbulence, baby can be injured.
Plus, the airlines will throw the car seats like a toy, potentially damaging it like an accident.

  • I agree with LittleApple. It's not safe for your LO or other passengers for your LO to be unrestrained (in turbulance they could be come a projectile and get hurt or hurt someone else). It's also compromising your car seat to check it, since it's out of your hands and you have no idea how it will be treated.

Also, since your LO is probably under 2 since you are posting on this board, the nautilus isn't an appropriate carseat for him since it doesn't rear face.

I would buy an inexpensive Cosco Scenera and use it on the plane. It's lightweight and is perfect for travel.

  • I highly disagree with the PP saying to check the car seat. Very bad idea.
The Graco Nautilius is a FF seat only. Just double checking that you know that. I am not sure how old your child is but is recommended to RF until at least 2 years old. Some people don't realize that the Nautilus does not RF.

  • I have a 3yo and a 15mo, the 3yo will be riding in the carseat. I was originally going to check it, but then I read about it getting damaged. So no knowledge of the size? Thanks for your replies.

  • It's a big seat, but you can fly with it. And glad to hear it's for the 3 year old :)
