Jeep

edited September 2013 in Babies: 6 - 9 Months
Anyone have a jeep wrangler?
When did you ride around town with your babies with the top off?

My husband really wants to take him out, just around town. My ONLY concern is the wind. Will that affect him as much as I'm thinking it will? What do you think?

(by the way, jeeps are one of the safest vehicles, the temperature is great, and things don't randomly fall out of the sky and through the roof ;) so I'm not concerned on those levels)

*the safety ratings on my jeep are good. It is a newer model. My ONLY concern is the wind.

Re: Jeep

  • I can't speak from experience bc I don't have a vehicle with a removable top, but I would think from a wind level, it'd be ok. The car seat should catch most of the wind and channel it around LO. I've driven with the windows down and the sunroof open and DD loves having the breeze blow on her (she smiles or laughs the whole ride) so I would think it wouldn't be a problem.

  • LOL at Jeeps being safe. They are one of the most tippy cars on the planet. Personally, I think no. The noise from the wind will probably hurt their ears. Plus what if you guys roll (cuz it's a Jeep).

Not sure which Jeep you looked at but mine doesn't have those ratings.

Older jeeps, yes. But Jeeps 2007 and newer have higher safety ratings and the whole "tippy" car thing isnt true of these.
Again, I'm only concerned with the wind.

Plus jeeps have roll bars - the same stuff they use on race cars so they don't roll.

  • We had a convertible and no ac, so most of the summer we had to have the top down. Luckily we have a better car now. But the wind was not a problem, the sun in her eyes however was an issue, she hated it.
