Help me break a bad habit.....(please).......

Ok, so my LO simply loves the comfort of the boob...... She's never taken a binky and I believe she satisfies her need to suck and unfortunately self soothe with my boob. I produce only 6 ounces a day pumping, so I'm fairly confident she's not getting enough to satisfy her hunger when she's on there....

She takes bottles almost all day with the exception of the MOTN and morning. She has been left twice overnight so I know she can adjust fine with no boob.

THe problem? She LOVES to nurse into her drowsy state at night..... HELP!?!?!? I"m at a loss on how to break this habit. I should point out that there was a few nights in a row last week where she fell asleep early with her last bottle of the night, so again, I know it's not necessary...... but when she doesn't fall asleep with the last bottle (which is more often than not since she takes that around 7).....She always goes and goes and goes for my boob when I take her into her room, and being that I am a sucker and I'm exhausted I give in.....

The thing is I have to travel next week and I"m thinking there is a good chance my supply dries up completely while I am gone...... So I need to start trying to break this habit now.

Any advice?

You said she does okay if you aren't there, so maybe next week is a good chance to break it. I don't necessarily think you have to break it before you go. Another idea is to have YH handle putting her to bed. He doesn't have boobs, so she won't expect it. See how that goes.
I feel you though. I'm afraid I'll be nursing E when I drop her off at college. That little girl just loves her some boob. Especially this week since she's been hurting. The second she sees me, she just signs milk, milk, milk.

I had the same thought about letting DH putting her down - the issue? he is traveling for work from Saturday - Tuesday

I am just terrified my supply will be gone when I come home - BUT then I wonder if that does happen, I would assume she will stop smelling it on me and may not go for the boobs (since she does take a bottle from me with no real issues)?? THoughts?

Like TJ said have DH put her down with a bottle. That should solve that issue. When bottle is done - just lay her down unless you had some other part of your routine. As far as morning goes just offer a bottle instead as well. Has she had formula yet? If not i would start mixing it with BM now if your really done with the bfding thing. That way you have a little bit of time before going straight to formula. Then again DS thought formula was a milkshake and took it straight. So you never know.

Oh yeah - she has been on a blend for a month and a half..... She's down to 1.5 - ounces of BM and 4-4.5 ounces of formula per bottle.... Sometimes she refuses straight formula, but I am not too worried about that aspect, as there have been other times shes taken 2 ounces of straight formula.

As @TJ1979 said, you probably don't need to break the habit before you leave. Your trip next week may solve the whole issue. I think babies adept to new routines easier than adult.

Thanks ladies. Good news; she went down tonight with a bottle of straight formula from me. Bad news; my d-bag BIL came over after she was down and wouldn't be quiet (my point in calling him a d-bag, he ignores everything I do as a parent- like repetitively asking him to keep his voice down...) and she woke up. So she wound up getting the boob, see I'm awful ; total bad habit, but she was back down within 3 minutes of giving it to her- which is why I can't help it! Ugh!!! FX that my trip next week takes care of the issue.
