Hi ladies! I have been lurking here for awhile and I have a question I'm hoping someone can help with, so I figure it is finally time to intro. I live in Georgia at Fort Benning with my husband and two awesome cats. I am a music teacher, but not currently working due to complications with military moving and the pregnancy. I am 20 weeks pregnant with di/di twin girls. It was a long journey getting to this point and we are absolutely thrilled to have two little girls on the way.
Yesterday I had a consult with MFM and was told that baby B has IUGR and is only in the 5th percentile for growth. I guess they determined this based on her head and stomach size, and an estimated weight (which I can't remember). Baby A is within normal size but on the low end in the 16th percentile. The MFM also said both babies have shorter than normal femurs which is a soft marker for aneuploidy. They are running the MaternT21 test to check for chromosomal abnormalities (which I realize is only so useful with twins). We should have been at a pretty low risk for chromosomal issues with my 27 year old eggs and husbands 28 year old sperm, but the MFM insisted that it is more common with IVF pregnancies regardless of maternal age (which I had not heard before). Anyway, at this point I am more concerned about the IUGR because if there is a chromosome issue there is nothing we can do to other than try to prepare ourselves. My question is, can I do anything to help my tiny babies out? I have been eating nonstop since I woke up this morning, and trying to make sure it is mostly protein. Are there any supplements? Activities that should be avoided? Magical holistic options? I feel like if I can find a way to be proactive I will spend less time worrying. Any advice would be appreciated!
