Newborn Dry Skin?

 Okay so this is probably a question for the second time moms. My daughter will be 2 weeks old on Monday and in the past 2 days I've noticed that she all of a sudden has very dry skin on her hands and feet, was this considered a normal thing by your pedi's? Is there anything that you found to help this? Her first appointment is Monday morning and I will be asking the doctor about it but I just thought it wouldn't hurt to ask you ladies about your own experiences. 
 I apologize if this has been asked before, it's a little harder to browse the internet with a newborn in your arms! Lol!

    My LO has the same thing. I've heard it is completely normal and that it goes away on its own. I also heard that it's common after a bath and to not use lotion on newborn.

    Avery is veryyy dry and it's slowly getting more normal. My pediatrician said it's totally normal and not to use lotion because it could make it worse (which I don't understand). I'm probably going to start using some lotion though because I'm a rebel like that.

    My pediatrician said all newborns lose their top layer of skin and it's totally normal. He said using lotion after a bath is perfectly fine, but it's not going to change the fact that their skin will shed.
    4 years TTC including countless tests, 2 surgeries, and one failed IUI

    In our newborn care class, we were told not to use baby lotion for the first month so the skin learns to regulate on its own.

    DD's whole body started peeling when she was about 1 week old. It looked awful, but my pediatrician said it was perfectly normal!

    Yes it's completely normal. Your LO's skin is getting used to be outside the womb- so they shed a layer of skin within the first month. Lotion will not help with the situation but also can't hurt. :)
