MoM skin question.

I've heard a lot of talk about "twin skin" and stretch marks lately. Not from this forum but from real life folk. I've heard one is genetically predisposed to stretch marks but how true that is I don't know. Dr. Google didn't seem to give me a straight answer.

None of my immediate family or grand mothers ever had stretch marks. As far as my pregnancy goes, so far so good. I use bio oil everyday and I love it!

With all of that said my question to all of you MoMs is: When did you first start noticing stretch marks? Did other women in your family (multiples or not) also have them?

My mom got crazy stretch marks from her 5 pregnancies, but her mom had twins (and 4 other kids) and was apparently wearing bikinis into her 40's. Of course her twins weighed a collective 7 lbs, whereas mine weighed almost 12. :-P I don't have any stretch marks, but have a bit of twin skin and some really minor abdominal separation. I could probably tone the abs back up if I put my mind to it, but ain't nobody got time for that!

I dont have any yet, but I started off bigger...size 14, so my tummy skin is not pulled AS tight as someone who may have had less skin to grow, ya know? I may still see some as I get larger, but I am pretty large now

I did not get stretch marks and neither did my mother (hers were all singletons). Jury is still out about the "twin skin" as I'm only 5 weeks out. I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight but still have the extra skin...it's not much and it's tightening up so I it may just be normal post pg skin.

My stretch marks showed up at 33 weeks

. I am 2 weeks postpartum but back in op clothes. Twin skin damage is still unknown, but I am binding and drinking water like its my job in hopes I don't get it. Good luck!

My mom had 3 kids and I was her last and she is 4 feet 2 inches and gained 75 pounds with me and didn't get any stretch marks...I only gained 35 pounds and didn't get any stretch marks, no twin skin and was back to Pre-pregnancy weight by 11 days pp.

I carried DS1 to 37w5d and no stretch marks. Carried my twins to 38w and got a few (not too bad). I think they probably started to appear around 30w/32w. I think my mom got stretch marks.

My mom was always very happy that she never had any stretch marks; I assumed I would get them because of the twins plus the 50 lbs I gained, plus the tendency since I had some in puberty. I ended up very fortunate - none on my belly just a couple light ones on my boobs that came about 2 months into breastfeeding, that are already fading. I slathered on bio-oil plus Mother's something from the health food store 2 times a day religiously, even though people said that didn't work. My belly was glistening constantly. I carried the babies to 38W 2 days.

I first noticed them in the mid to late second tri. I got a lot of them but they have faded to a sort of light silvery color. They don't bother me; it's the twin skin that I hate.

I'm pretty sure my mom and sister both have some stretch marks. (They've each given birth to five singletons. I've had just the twins. They weighed a combined 13lbs1oz at birth.)

My mom and sisters had them, but they aren't so bad. I started noticing some tiny ones on my sides after 30w, but the ones on my belly didn't appear until after delivery. That was a sad moment. And, I definitely have twin skin. I've had several doctors tell me nothing will help but plastic surgery, but I don't know that I'd do it. It's well below my waistline- just a deflated balloon looking skin bulge near my bikini area. My bikini days are done, but that's NBD to me.

Never got any and I carried to 36 an 3. Never used anything on my belly but lavender oil to treat my irritable uterus. And that wasn't very often.

I did get some stretch marks on ONE of my boobs (that's sweet) when they were about 6 weeks.

Yes, I put that oil everywhere. I was glistening constantly. I don't know if it helped, but I am happy I did it. No twin skin either!

Some women in my family have them, some don't. I did not notice any until after I had the girls and they are pretty bad. I'm sure they will fade its only
Been 5 weeks, and honestly right now it's the last thing Im worried about.

I got them and have twin skin. I'm 7 weeks pp and hope they will fade and that my skin will tighten back up. I'm afraid the twin skin will stay though. It is the least of my worries and my twins were so worth it!

I don't have twin skin. I was back down to my pre-pg weight 2 weeks PP. I am currently 20lbs lighter than I was before I had them. I got a little big of stretch marks just under my belly button, and some above where my belly ring whole was. My boobs have a lot those since they grew A LOT. My mom got lots my nana had none. I think I may have not gotten any if I only had a singleton though. I think the ones on my stomach showed up around the 32-33 mark.

As soon as we learned it was twins, I cancelled my trip to Paris (obviously - can't walk, eat cheese or drink wine? what was the point?) and changed the name of my "Paris trip" account to "twin skin" and plan to tummy tuck and boob lift if necessary. (note - I lost a ton of weight 10 years ago and had a lot of excess skin and saggy boobs to begin with, so in my mind, this is o.k.)
