If you ended up going to counseling or therapy to help deal with the NICU experience, did you find it helpful? Worthwhile? I've never been to counseling before but I'm really starting to consider it. I'm just not where I want to be mentally right now. I feel distant from my husband (68 days in the NICU 4hrs from home and he was only able to come out on the weekends because he needed to work). I think I just got used to being alone dealing with everything, even though we would talk and FaceTime multiple times a day. I couldn't be happier to be home but I just don't feel right and I can't quite explain it. Any advice?
Hoping this one stays put a little longer
Re: Counseling / therapy
I saw a therapist for anxiety during IVF and pregnancy and am considering going back too.
To find one, word of mouth is usually a good start. Otherwise, google therapist and your city and "psychology today" should hopefully come up with local therapists and their info. If you have insurance, you can start there too.
Good luck, I really hope you have a good experience--I certainly did and am a huge advocate for it!
