my 1 year old has been waking up crying between 12 and 2am for almost 2 weeks now, up until then he had been sleeping until 4 or 5am without a wake up. If I don't go in there and give him a bottle he will stand there crying for god knows how long (the longest I've let him go is 30 min). I notice when I go in and check his diaper it is extremely wet and heavy, which I think causes him to wake up. He goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm, he gets his last bottle at 7. I started using the huggies overnights a few weeks ago, a size up from his usual, and they don't seem any different than regular diapers. Maybe my LO just pees too much at night? Any suggestions for making him more comfortable?
Re: overnight diapers
We are using the huggies overnites and have noticed a difference. Before that we would change her before we went to bed. She went right back to sleep once her diaper was changed but, I hated risking the chance that she wouldn't.
I will say that just because his diaper is wet and heavy, I wouldn't assume that's the issue. I expect any diaper after that long to be wet and heavy.
Thanks for the replies!
I know I shouldn't be giving him a bottle during the night, but it's literally the only way he will go back to sleep and stay asleep. The only thing I haven't tried is letting him CIO for more than 30 min. I just can't stand to leave him standing up crying in his crib when he's already behind on sleep from moving to 1 nap at daycare.
I thought maybe because he is learning to walk that that might be affecting his sleep, but it seems like it's been going on too long now.
