Car window shades

We finally switched DS to his convertible car seat. I didn't realize how much the sun would be in his eyes since it doesn't have a canopy like his infant seat. Any recommendations for window shades? I read some reviews on the BRU website and they all were rated horrible. Do you use one? Also, we have a sedan and I'm not sure if you need two covers? One for the passenger window next to the car seat and another for the back window? TIA!! I feel like such a FTM not thinking of this in advance!

Re: Car window shades

  • They are pretty sucky.  I bought one for the back window and it wont stay up no matter what I do.  The side one is ok, but only the top sticks not the bottom so it flaps around.  Is the jolly jumper one

  • We got a few of the cling ones and they have worked pretty well. We have a ford edge which has triangular windows next to the main back windows, so I cut one to fit inside those too. Bonus is that there isn't anything for him to grab!

  • We use the britax ez-cling sun shades and have had ZERO issues.  I had a hard time choosing too, because all the reviews on babies r us were moderate, at best.  But these stay up in both my and DH's cars, and we've never had them fall off.  The hardest thing for me to remember is to not automatically roll that window down when I'm trying to get fresh air!
  • We have the cling shades made by Brica I think. They work very well, we've had them for about a year with no issues.

  • I know what you mean with this issue and I find it so annoying to look in my rear view mirror and see a window cling.  It really changes your visibility! I decided to put some babybands on him instead and problem solved.  We also have babiators for when he's a bit bigger but for now he just tries to chew those ones.

This.  FWIW I bought two sets so I could cut them to fit my larger SUV windows.

I have britax ones that I like too, though the edges have metal running around to give it shape so I think it may be a slightly different model.
