3 year old drooling

It is excessive, I put his shirt on him this morning and within an hour he had soaked almost the entire top half.  It doesn't look like he is teething, he has a weird spot on his tongue but his throat is clear.  He has a doctor's appointment tomorrow  for his 3 year check up and I will ask the doc then but I wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this??

    His appointment is today, I will post an update, and after him screaming and thrashing all night my mommy spidey sense tells me something bigger may be going on.  He usually didn't wake up but he was screaming and kicking his legs everywhere and just completely inconsolable and then he would go back to sleep, it's the second night in a row, but last night was far worse.  He woke with a low fever this morning, so he is home with daddy today, did not want to send him to the sitter sick.

    Probably really slow 2 year molars.  My son has been working on them for a long time.  He's not drooling as badly as your son, but his teeth take months to finally pop up.

    Hopefully the pedi can shed some light on what's going on for sure.

    TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

    Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

    Drooling in kids that age is also a sign of a food intolerance or mild food allergy.

    You might ask the pedi or check over on the food allergies board for tips. I know excessive drooling is a sign and the writhing in his sleep would also be consistent with a sensitivity or allergy.

    You might think about if there have been diet or toothpaste changes. Some kids also just develop sensitivities to foods they have been previously ok with. Lactose and gluten are two I think might be commonly associated with drooling, but there could be others...

    Your pedi will probably either do a simple blood test called a RAST panel to check for allergies or refer you to a pediatric allergist.

    Just a side note that at 3, nightmares also are much more common, so the sleep and drooling issues may or may not be related.

    We just had to drop strawberries, which my son has eaten a ton of since he started solids, because he has now developed a sensitivity out of the blue a month before he turns 3.
