Short version: Samuel Eliot (Sam) was born at 10:07am on 9/18. 5 lbs 9 oz and 19 inches long. Born at 36w1d.
Long version: It's really not that long! My water broke at home around 3am. Not a huge gush - just constant trickles. Called my OB andy BFF to come stay with DD and headed to the hospital. We got checked into a triage room around 4:30 where they confirmed it was indeed my water that broke, so we were moved up to a L&D room around 7:00am. I got hooked up to the IV and started receiving pitocin around 7:30am. My OB checked and I was about 3 cm dilated. I started feeling some painful contractions around 8:30am, so I asked for the epidural and got that around 9:00am. At about 9:45, my OB checked again and I was completely dilated! They called to have a pediatrician come (standard practice for preemies) and I was told I could start pushing. After one push I was told to stop. Baby was right there ready to come out and no pediatrician yet. As soon as that doc was in the room, I pushed again and Samuel Eliot was born at 10:07am! 5 lbs, 9 oz, 19 inches. It was crazy how fast he was born! No NICU time has been needed. My milk hasn't come in yet, so we are obviously supplementing with formula, but for the most part he latches well, so hoping BF'ing will go well.
I can't believe this little man is here with us. I just look at him in awe, and DD was so sweet with him - brought tears to my eyes. Thank you all so much for the support and love over the last 8ish months, heck, over the last 2+ years! Can't wait to see/read about all your rainbows too!
