Has anyone tried this? I'm torn as to whether or not I should give DS cough syrup. From what I've read online, cough syrup isn't recommended for babies due to the possibility of dosing errors. Also, I'm not sure if that is including this type of cough syrup. He's got a cold and has been coughing an awful lot. Thoughts?
Re: Hylands Baby Cough Syrup?
Hylands is homeopathic, the over dosing that they worry about tends to be with more conventional medication, which is not to say that you shouldn't also be careful about that with homeopathic remedies. That said, I used this once for C when she was about 9 months and it revved her waaaay up. Skipped both naps that day. She felt better, but I couldn't deal with the hyper and she was exhausted the next day. I second PP and say dose him with a spoonful of honey!
ETA: My pedi said that C had a lot of mucus, I could give her a half dose of children's benadryl to dry her up. When she has a cough, I give 1/2 tsp of benadryl and a dose of motrin (to help with swollen nasal passages). Works like a charm.
