WWYD: In a wedding Feb 2014

Ok ladies, give me your best advice. I'm going to be in my cousin's wedding at the end of February. I will be 6 months along, just entering my 3rd trimester. How do I pick out a dress?? She is letting us pick out whatever dress we want in a minty color scheme.
Do I just wait it out and hope to find one closer to the wedding date? Should I tell her now even though we're not planning on revealing my pregnancy until the holidays?
I was planning on waiting it out but she's worried the color scheme might be out of season if we wait too long. Thoughts?

Re: WWYD: In a wedding Feb 2014

  • I got an empire waist dress that flowed down from the boobs to the knees and ordered it one size up. It ended up fitting perfectly. If you must order now, order too big so you can take it in.

  • I agree.  I would get something not fitted around the stomach and order a size or two up.

  • Try Davids bridal! They always seem to have mint and they carry maternity dresses! plus your picking your own dress so you wont have to worry ab explaining why you can wear a fitted number in feb before your ready! :o)
    Good Luck! and have fun!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • Girlllll consider yourself lucky!!! I'm moh in my cousins wedding in nov when I'm 6 months and she made me get the same fitted dress! I have to have a whole new front of the dress sewn on not to mention how expensive. Definitely go empire, 2 sizes bigger at least and get same fabric to at least match. Did the other girls pick yet?! Or you can get a dress dyed.

I agree. Definitely try David's to see what they have. I wouldn't tell her until you are ready to share the news.

  • Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely going to try an empire waist. Shopping for a dress should be interesting. Maybe ill take my sister who is 32 wks now and see what size she fits and use that as a guide.

The bride gave us a couple of swatches we should try to match so I can get a dress dyed if I choose. I've never done that before. How/where do I get that done?

  • You should be able to go to seamstress/taylor to do that. That way they match it perfectly as much as they can. Before I knew I had to buy the dress all the girls were wearing I found this site which looked pretty awesome.  https://www.jjshouse.com/maternity-bridesmaid-dresses-c45/?gclid=CJ_287vt17kCFQ-g4AodcXwA7Q  Two the dresses on this site come in tons of colors. I know davids bridal has maternity lines as well.

  • Now I have a question for you...I have this dress in an aqua color https://www.figure8maternity.com/viewItem.cfm?pid=1475300 instead of orange. We have a 2:00 wedding in two weeks. Is it too casual?? This isn't a church wedding that I am aware of.

  • Super cute! I don't think that dress is too casual at all. It should be perfect

  • Thanks for the link on maternity dresses! They have some great ones

  • Sweet because I am so cheap right now I would hate to buy a dress for someone else's wedding to wear once. I will also need a dress for rehersal  when I am six months - tempted to wear my dress from my bridal shower two years ago. Can't fit in annnnnnnnny normal clothes
