Re: diaper changing dread

  • we are in the same boat. DS hates it! we did away with the changing table first of all, he kept trying to climb off. now we do it on the living room floor and try to get him to play with a toy or the wipes box to keep him occupied. if it is a diaper change and dressing we give him a break in between.

  • dd hates it! she'll squirm roll over sit do whatever....at the dc they strap her down and she freaks out
i mean there are times she's ok with it....but most of the time...ugh! but she likes to play with the wipes...we have the regular packages (not the refillable hard ones) and we keep an empty one around for her to crinkle, or she likes to play with a diaper, so we have plenty of small ones still laying around and she plays with those to be distracted....
we do it on our bed, but at my parent's house they have a changing table on the pnp and i'm always afraid she'll twist right off!
but apparently, when my sister changes her, no problems!

  • We do the diaper change in the bathroom now, with my LO standing on the counter looking at herself in the mirror. She thinks the baby in the mirror is quite entertaining. I ended up moving all of the supplies in there was well. It can still be a wrestling match though.

  • This is Chris all the time since he was about 4 months! Changing a diaper has never been such a task. He's now arching his back, turning over and crawling on his changing pad, stretching his legs, playing with his feet, pulling on his little boy parts and peeing all over his face...I'm exhausted after a diaper change! He's outgrowing his pad anyways so I might end up just changing him on the floor. I try giving him little toys to play with. If I can have 45 seconds without the above mentioned I'm good!

  • I'm so glad this seems to be a common deal. DS HATES it with a passion, he cries almost every time, a whimper cry not a painful cry so I've never been too concerned about it. Luckily he doesn't roll around and try to move much on the diaper changing table....but he is a wiggle worm if you change him on the floor. I hope he grows out of this stage soon, however I seem to recall they are in this stage until they are potty trained. Uhg....

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • I was told by our DC provider that Lincoln is the absolute worst baby to change!

I usually have to have his dad help me, to be honest - if he's not around to help, I just have to change as humanly fast as possible haha!

  • Yep, DS hates it too! He actually full out cries pretty much every time. For a baby who never cries, it's so odd. I'm glad we're not alone because I was afraid something was painful down there!
