Getting Dressed

Do you get dressed first thing in the morning & if so do you do it before LO wakes up?  My bathroom shares a wall with DD's room so she can hear the minute I'm up to brush my teeth! It drives me nuts so I don't bother trying to get up earlier than her anymore.  If we are having a day where we will be home all day I sometimes don't get dressed until the afternoon. It's starting to bother me & make me feel less motivated.  Just wondering how many of you get dressed in the morning every day even if you don't have any plans to go anywhere that day.  If you do, have you always?

Re: Getting Dressed

  • Majority of the time, I get dressed after DS is awake. I do get dressed everyday even if we don't have plans. It may just be jeans and a t-shirt.

  • I don't get dressed first thing in the morning unless we have somewhere to be.  Sometimes I will put on yoga pants and a clean top but that's about it unless we are headed out right away in the morning.

  • Dd gets up between 530-6 lately and I don't get ready until much later, usually around 8ish.

  • I usually get dressed after he wakes up, but he wakes up happy and will play in his room for up to an hour if I let him (and sometimes I do...)

  • I try to get everyone dressed before we go downstairs for the day. For some treason I care more about getting the boys dressed than myself. I feel dressed in just yoga pants and tshirt. They have to wear real clothes :)
  • I get dressed every morning; I feel sluggish all day otherwise.  Whether or not I get dressed before the kids depends on what time they and I wake up.  Some days I cannot sleep and am up  before 5.  I know the kids will not be woke up by my being in the bathroom at that hour so I usually get ready then if I get up before 5.  Otherwise, I get dressed after I get the house tidied up and the kids dressed.

  • DS bedroom shares a wall with the bathroom as well so most days I wait until he is up and has had breakfast and content for a few minutes and Ill shower and get ready. If we have somewhere to go or something to do and I need to be ready earlier I will go to the basement and take a shower down there. We have a full bath down there but don't like that I cant hear him down there. But I always get dressed every day even if we are just hanging out at home. It helps to keep me motivated and not sluggish and lazy.

  • On school days (when I take DS there) I try to get up and get dressed and as ready as possible before the kids get up. On the rare days DH takes DS to school and during the weekend I change (usually just clean tshirt and shorts/yoga pants) and brush my teeth shortly after I wake up, after having breakfast

  • We do have another bathroom upstairs far away from her bedroom & mine which are both downstairs. I guess you're right & should pick out my clothes move my toothbrush & make-up into there & try getting ready in that one.  Luckily DD isn't a super early riser so it would only take me 30 minutes tops to get ready.  She wakes up at about 7 am, anything before that would be too early for me to get up and get moving before she does.  I've been trying to shower and blow-dry my hair at night so that's one less thing I have to do to get ready in the morning.

  • I get up before either DH or DD, and then can't get dressed because the dresser with my clothes in it is right next to DH face, and I don't want to wake him. DD usually wakes up during the hustle and bustle of getting DH out thedoor, so I usually get dressed once she's awake.

  • I get dressed around 10am, when I put DS2 down for his first nap. I like to just veg with him for an hour, and have our breakfast and (my) coffee before I get ready.

  • I don't get dressed unless I'm planning to leave the house.  The two days a week DS has preschool, I usually roll out of bed in the same yoga pants and nursing tank that I wore the day before and all night and throw a shirt over it and go.  Yes, I'm a slob.  I'll work on that in a few months.

  • I get dressed before DD gets up.  If I don't it won't happen and I feel like a sloth.

  • I never get dressed unless we're going out. Around the house, I always wear yoga pants/shorts with a tank top. Now that I'm nursing, I'm also wearing a nursing sleep bra. Usually it's no bra at all.

  • Hahahahaa, no.  I don't even get dressed every day let alone get up before my kids to get dressed.  I don't see the point.

I respect those SAHPs who make it a point to get dressed for the day.  It seems so... grown up.  And it's a good way to make yourself feel good.  I'm way too lazy for that though.

Like today, I will put on real clothes for preschool drop off in a bit (because I want to look like I have it together, obvs) and then I'll come home and probably put my yoga pants back on until it's time for pick up.  If I had yoga pants that fit better I would probably just wear them to pick up/drop off, but I'm not to that point of uncaring yet.  I'm trying to make a decent impression right now.
