PNP matress

We're headed out of town for a wedding in a few weekends, and I need to find a PNP mattress so LO will sleep in it.  My only problem is that we're borrowing the IL's PNP and it's an Eddie Bauer, which is apparently non-standard sized.  All the mattresses I can find are 24x38, and this thing measures 24x36.  Any ideas on where to look?  Anyone else have a mattress for their PNP?

We don't have one, but when I Googled I saw a suggestion to go buy a cheap egg crate mattress topper thingy and just cut it to fit. Do you think that would work?
This is what we did, except it was a temperpedic mattress topper that my mom had.  The pad that came with ours is super hard and he wouldn't sleep, so we put the topper on, then put the little PNP pad on top of it.

  • We have a Graco and got a Dream somethingoranother off Amazon for our out of town trips. I recall there being different sized mattresses available so I'd check there. It made a ton of difference, I also ordered the super thick velvety sheet/cover to go over top of it.

  • Wait, they're not supposed to just sleep in the PNP?  Am I a horrible mom?  DD just sleeps in the plan old pnp when we are at my parents' house.

We just put our DD in the PNP. We bought a little mattress pad and quilted sheet so it makes it a little more comfortable. She sleeps fine in it when she stays at my Moms.

  • Thanks for the input guys.  I tried searching by the dimensions, and just wasn't finding anything that would fit - everything was about  2" too big.  My mom and I went to a fabric store last night and picked up some 2" foam and vinyl to make a mattress for his PNP.   I'm hoping that will work!

@kitchencolors It's not that they can't sleep on what comes with the PNP, it's just that mine won't.  He did just fine up through our trip in June, but when I went out of town with him in August, it was not happening.  The child would be dead asleep, and as soon as I set him down, he'd wake.  I put blankets in the bottom, and that seemed to help, but I want a safer, more permanent solution.

@bethandben I saw one that would fold and travel nicely, the MamaDoo foldable play yard mattress topper, but it was pricey and the size wouldn't work for us.  Everything else I saw was definitely not going to be compact/easy to transport.
