Re: couple questions mommas

  • I just started solids so I will skip that but for the other...LO turned 4 months on the 8th and just started rolling over this week. He just started (good) baby push ups too this week.

  • my baby has shown no interest in eating yet. I want to let him kind of lead the way to trying solids unless he must for health reasons. My pedi practice, Midwives, and the hospital where I delivered all recommend waiting til 6mo in most cases, and I trust them. That being said, if he shows clear signs of interest in eating, I would probably offer him food between 4 and 6 months.

As for the rolling, etc. it's totally normal for it to take a while! try not to stress.

This is what's recommended in the UK. Plus when I looked into it further theres a review by WHO and their conclusions were that there were no benefits of introducing solid food between 4 and 6 months, and no deficits in growth in infants who were exclusively breastfed for 6 months. So I'm all for making my life easier which is to wait.

Re the push-ups, my LO is almost 4 months and she's started doing them now but her rolling is very sporadic. She rolled earlier on but I swear I think she's forgotten how to do it now.

  • our pedi said we can start solids now if we want to, but why deal with the mess haha. I'd like to wait until she can sit up on her own without a whole lot of support before I try having her sit in a high chair, but that's just me. She sits in her jumper and booster, but she tends to lean to one side. As for rolling, S turned 4 months at the beginning of the month and only now started thinking about rolling so I wouldn't worry.

  • We just started oatmeal (instead of rice) - a few tiny spoonfuls twice a day. LO is 4 1/2 months. I can't really answer your question since we didn't wait... but I thought this was a really helpful article: https://articles.lucieslist.com/1-week-22-starting-solids-intro  - I found it via google; even though I subscribe I Don't think this one comes until 6 months.

  • I started LO on purées this week and she will also be 4 months on the 23rd. I was til at her appt that either we supplement with solids or formula but that they were a little concerned with how much weight she wasn't gaining. I figure I'd have to introduce solids in a few months anyways. She loves it so far and I mix as much breast milk as I can pump to get her some extra milk. Really she is eating breast milk with a little cereal in it. However it's hard to find time to feed her solids since she still breastfeeds every 2 hours.
