Does anyone have a play yard they would recommend? We need one because we recently realized that we can't mount a gate at the top of our stairs, which is where the living room is. So we need something to enclose her in a large area. TIA!
Why can't you mount a gate there? Only asking as we will have to really think outside of the box for our space... I'm dealing with having to attach them to wrought iron railings somehow.
The wall at the top of the stairs is diagonal from the banister, and the banister is a curvy round shape (think like a tear drop kind of). So we really haven't found a way to mount on a diagonal onto a curved banister. We can't go banister to banister because the "wall side" is only about a 1/2 inch thick and would break if anything was pressured or drilled onto it. Hard to explain, sorry! If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them!
ETA- We are also renting so we want to be careful with drilling, we can spackle the wall but not the wood.
We have one from Target that we got as a gift we haven't used it yet so I don't have any reviews. Do you have a boy or girl? All my friends with boys say that boys eventually learn to pick them up and crawl under or push them if you have wood floors...something to keep in mind.

Oh wow, you've got us beat... That does sound impossible to baby proof. I've got a thin wrought iron railing on one side so we are going to attach a piece of wood to it and then secure the baby gate to that. Not sure how that could work for a teardrop shaped banister. They do make gates for extra wide openings, with sections you can adjust to work for angled walls etc. Otherwise what Clandestine suggested is probably your best bet.
Have you asked your landlord if they have any ideas? My staircase railings had these huge openings too in between the rails... I asked ours for suggestions as I didn't want to do a lot of damage either. They just came in last Friday and replaced the entire stairway railings with ones that are up to code and safe for children. Maybe your landlord can replace the teardrop banister for you?
Thanks guys for your input! ClandestineX and Msameera26- that is actually the play yard we are currently looking at. Fireflyz- we looked at that one too, but if I remember correctly the measurements were off or something. At first I thought I hit the jackpot, then we realized it wouldn't fit! I really wish we could put a gate up but it's just not gonna happen. I could check with the landlord about it, but not sure what they could do. Ahh stupid weird shaped banister haha...
Thanks for the link! I actually thought that might work for a minute, but then I went over to look at my stairs and I don't think it will. But, it's food for thought and has me playing with zip-tie ideas, thanks!
Friendly Toys Little Playzone can give you baby space ,donot like n-play just wasn’t big enough.this playyard can be use many years.also this products have high quality and excellent review.
We have one like this. DS didn't mind it at first, but once he got mobile he didn't like being trapped. It's a pretty small space (but much bigger than a pack and play) if they're used to roaming. You can open it all the way and have a really long gate to block areas off, but it isn't meant to be used that way. You'd have to be creative in how you attached it and it wouldn't be very sturdy.
I have the 8 piece. It is a pretty nice sized yard with lots of toys and lots of room. Of course it is only a place to go when I need a break from him roaming everywhere and I need to do something and put him somewhere where I know he will be safe.
It isn't sturdy when it is in a square... but it kinda is when it is in an octagon shape. The flexibility reminds me of like a boxing ring.. he bounces off the sides when it is a square and leans on it and uses it to push him forward... lol
