Now THAT's a new one!

As a doula, I've got a LOT of crunchy stuff on my newsfeed.  I do agree with some of it, but by NO means all of it.  I am, for example, PRO vax, which is a big Oh-NO-she-didn't! in the crunchy community.  For the most part I just let the vax arguments slide right on by me and I keep my mouth shut, but I'm not sure I can ignore this one....

A list of things "vaccinations cause" just popped up on my Pinterest, and it included SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME!   Uhhhhhhhhh, WHA???!

Can someone please tell me, is my vaxed baby more likely to be shaken by someone, or is she going to shake herself??

I thought it was common knowledge vaccines cause babies to shake themselves. >:/

  • OMG that's interesting and funny/not funny at the same time! Who comes up with lists like that!

okay, that is just redic. Maybe they think that if they are vaxed, and then shaken, the shaking is more likely to cause a problem?  That's the best argument I can come up with, and it is still beyond stupid.
That's all I could come up with too. Ha

I have do admit that I tried really hard to come up with a correlation in my mind, no matter how far-fetched and I came up with nada. WTF? How do people come up with this shit?

Right??!  I tried too, and I just can't get there.  What pisses me off more than anything is that this kind of shit is being presented as fact, and there are dopes out there who will believe it!  WHY OH WHY IS THERE SO MUCH STUPID??

  • It's a wonder these people are able to function in society.  Unbelievable!

  • The sad thing is that there are people out there who believe that crap.
  • Maybe because they sometimes get cranky after they get shots?

Someone in our baby class before DD was born said he was concerned because he heard vaxing could cause Down syndrome.  Luckily I wasn't in the room and DH has more tact than I do...

Wow. Just wow. People are idiots.

  • Obviously, you ladies don't know that vaccines work like cool-aid. You have to shake the baby to get all the good bits distributed throughout. Gosh.

That's a crazy idea. I generally stay out of the vaccine debates, but that's just silly.

  • I have heard of this.  When LO was very little, I remember hearing about lots of parents that were choosing not to vaccinate.  So I was curious about the reasons, and I watched a documentary.  I forgot the name, but I found the whole thing on YouTube.  One story they told was about a Dad who went to prison because his son died and the autopsy concluded that it was from shaken baby syndrome.  The argument was that the 4 month shots caused this...but there were a whole other odds things about the case and the way the doctors handled it etc...

Anyway, I wasn't convinced by the documentary...but it was interesting to watch.
