My DS will be 6-months-old on Sept. 22. He's been in daycare since 12 weeks and at first he was taking three 3oz bottles, which soon increased to 4oz bottles and finally to 5oz bottles. He's been at three 5oz bottles for a month or so. He's away from me for 10 hours, 9 of which are at daycare. Suddenly he's sleeping a ton at daycare and only taking two of his 5oz bottles. I have noticed that he's been eating more at night, so maybe he's reverse cycling for some reason. He's not fussy, no fever, and his wet diaper output is perfect. I know they say that babies average 1oz per hour that they're away, so 10oz should be enough for the amount of time we're apart, but it just seems odd to drop an entire 5oz feeding. We did just recently start solids within the last week and a half, but only a handful of times and I'd be shocked if more than a tsp of puree is swallowed during a feeding. Right now the vast majority of it is being spit back out. Another factor is that he appears to be teething, but still, he's not fussy, just drooling and chewing on everything he can find. Some days he does take all 3 bottles, but around half the time, he's not. This has been happening for 2 weeks or so. I guess I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and whether I should be worried? I guess I know answer - watch diaper output and weight gain, but I need reassurance, I suppose.
Re: 6 month old dropping bottles at daycare
Anyone have any experience with this? DS also hasn't had a BM in 2 full days and he's never gone a day without going, usually a few times a day.
