We just did it four days ago. She was climbing out of her crib when it was on the lowest setting. We ultra babyproofed the room and put her in a floor bed. The first nap was rough but it's been perfect ever since then. She even lets me sleep in a tiny bit now because when she wakes up she isn't stuck in her crib.
I don't plan on it until I absolutely have to! He has yet to try and climb out(crossing my fingers that I'm not jinxing myself). For us, I'll have to buy a whole new bed because his crib is not a convertible crib. I don't want to have to buy a toddler bed, and then another bed once he outgrows that one. So, I'm going to try and hold off until I feel more comfortable with just getting a 'real' bed and using the rails for it.
About 3 weeks ago we went to visit my mom in CA. She had bought A a toddler bed and we decided to give it a try then. I had no plans to move her into a bed since we didn't have her climbing out of it
When we got back home, we assembled it and she would nap in it but wouldn't sleep through the night. We had left the crib up for about a week for the transition. We disassembled the crib and she's been sleeping in her bed since then. But when she wakes up, she stays in playing on her bed with her stuffed animals until one of us come up. Only then will she leave the bed. Her room is child proofed and has toys in it, but she still won't leave her bed until we've come in.

Not even on my radar. Allison isn't climbing out or even trying to. I figure if all goes well, she will be in a crib until 2.5 - 3 years old. Not in a hurry, I love putting her to bed - it is all that is left of my baby! Everything else is my toddler!
When he can climb out, which unfortunately will probably be sooner rather than later. Thank goodness he's short for his age, which should keep him contained a bit longer.
We moved DD when she was 2y4m. She had never climbed out or even attempted (she was just not that kind of toddler!). When she moved to a bed, we never had an issue with her getting up out of it. DS on the other hand...let's just say I am dreading putting him in a bed. He will be all over the place.
He does nap on a cot at daycare though, so at least by the time we put him in a bed he will be somewhat familiar with the idea.
I can't fathom DD being able to climb out. We only recently moved it to the lowest possible setting (moved it one setting at a time 3 times) and she is 2% for height at 29.5 inches. We've got a while, I'd don't think her chin even reaches the rail. Not even thinking of trasitioning.
We'll probably set up his toddler bed in our room; that way when he wakes up in the MOTN we can try having him sleep in that bed instead of with us. Then in Oct. or so we'll move it to his room. His bed does transition to a toddler bed, but my husband doesn't want to reassemble to a toddler and then back to a crib and we'll need the toddler bed anyways. We got him a racecar one that sits pretty close to the ground.
I'd got him a toddler bed and it's in his room. I will need his crib for #2 but she will be sleeping in our room for the first couple of months. I let him climb in his bed but don't push the issue. He hasn't climbed out of the crib and doesn't seem like he's going to. I will start trying to transition him probably in November and if it doesn't work, try again in December. I'd like to have him transitioned before the baby comes in February. I'm scared!
We are still in a crib right now but I want to transition her before baby #2 arrives in Feb. We are going to move her to the guest room which is larger and I don't want her to still think of the other room as "her room" when the baby arrives.
We also plan on going straight to a twin bed and will skip the toddler bed.

I won't transition him until we have to. He isn't much of a climber yet, so I'm not concerned. I know a lot of people who transitioned to beds and then their kids stopped napping, and I cherish nap time!

We are planning on waiting until DD is at least 2. She isn't even attempting to climb out of her crib yet. We would've tried transitioning her over my winter break if we were still expecting baby #2, but sadly that plan has changed. When we do transition her, we are going right to a full-size bed. We'll start with the mattress on the floor, and gradually work up to the bed. I've always wondered if she might be more likely to stay in a bed if we transition her before she realizes how to get out of her crib. (maybe if she has no idea that she can get out of her crib, she will think the same about her bed?) But, I doubt it. I'll be anxious to see how others do their transition- I'm excited to decorate her new big girl room, but I'm sad about my baby moving up to a big girl bed.
