Trying to Get Pregnant

Does anyone else's Walgreens lock up the pregnancy tests

Does your Walgreens lock the pink dye tests behind glass? The blue dye tests are not locked up. I was lurking in the pregnancy test section today and noticed it. I find this odd. I have never noticed pregnancy tests locked up before. Obviously I am a little bored tonight.

  • They also locked up the ovulation kits.

  • It may not be about value, but I think I read something about how condoms, pregnancy tests and baby stuff are the most frequently stolen items from drug stores.
  • The one near where I live doesn't.  But the one on the south side of town does.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • Wal-Mart on the ghetto side of town locks up their tests in individual boxes so you take the locked box to the cashier to unlock. The Walgreens near my office keeps the FRERs locked up beside the intuition razors. Heaven forbid we have sexually active women with shaved legs running around town.

PSA: CVS has the 2 pack of FRERs on sale for $11 and there's a $1 off coupon in the box!

  • Not sure about Walgreens, but while the Walmart by me does not lock them up, I work in the ghetto and the Walmart by my job keeps the pregnancy tests AND the condoms behind the customer service counter.

  • Our kroger does. The case isn't really locked though, it just is closed and has a lock on it. They told me it had something to do with inventory or something. I'm not sure I buy that.

This makes sense. I guess blue dye tests are less desired than pink :).

  • Wait, so they lock up the pink dye, but not the blue? I wonder if they lock up the digitals as well? I'm guessing that means even they know the pink dye tests are more reliable.
  • Depends on the neighborhood I'm in. One CVS I've been to has them in a glass case in the aisle but they never bother to lock it.

I don't live in a 'bad' area but it's very busy and right by the train station! Maybe there was a host of pink dye thefts recently.

  • I've noticed this in some lower-income neighborhoods around here. I swear they lock up anything that costs more than $15.

  • I've never seen condoms or pregnancy tests locked up. It makes sense to do so though! I had an acquaintance when I was in high school who used to steal condoms from the local Target store and then sold them out of her locker. She was a real piece of work. She got kicked out of school her senior year for selling drugs.

  • When I lived right in the city the grocery store and Walgreens locked up tons of stuff...pregnancy stuff was all behind the pharmacy counter, razors, formula, deodorant, tooth whitening was all locked.  Now that I live in the burbs, nothing is locked.
  • Yes, but we live downtown and it's right next to the trolly stop, so it makes sense. But it always takes then 10 minutes to figure out who has the keys to the case. And they always assume I want condoms not HPTs, and one time the cashier asked if the test was good news or band news for us. Not awkward at all.

  • Maybe this is why so many people come on here asking if they are pregnant...the tests are all locked up.
  • It depends on the 'hood around here. Walmart locks up some of the lubes and tests, and flat irons. Oh, and the Plan B's or course. Walgreens does the same, along w/all the meds you could make meth with.

  • Well, I HAVE heard horror stories about how women have found used HPTs in boxes.  You know, like some dumbass stole them, peed on them, then put them back in the box.  Ugh.

  • There isn't a Walgreens in the town that I live in but the save mart does. I've seen it in a few other stores in different places.

    Same here.

Our neighborhood grocery stores also lock up the cosmetics aisles after a certain time at night.
