WWYD if your child bit another kid (lets say about 3 yo) and broke the skin.

The other mother is now demanding your child be tested for AIDS?

This is not happening to me, but someone I know.  I am speechless.
To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew

Re: Kids biting and STD's

  • I would tell the other mother to play in traffic and be done with it.

I mean, does she have ANY reason to think that the child has been exposed to HIV/AIDs?

It's a MDO/daycare situation so the mother doesn't actually know which child bit her kid.  And this mother doesn't know which kid her child bit.

  • wtf. Have her get her own child tested if she is that concerned about it.
  • i'd be MUCH more concerned about it being a recurring thing &/or my child picking up this behavior than ever worrying about disease transmission.

So...is she demanding the whole school get tested or just this one kid?

  • If the child did have HIV/ std or anything like that it would need to be written on the health form do that staff can protect themselves and in the case the child needed medical attention. Why isn't the school confirming with the mom that this child doesn't not have any transmittable diseases and be done with it.
  • I'm still trying to figure out what biting and std's have to do with each other...catchy title though.  Since AIDS is transferred through blood, it's not necessarily completely absurd, but yeah... I can't imagine that really being a response.  Hepatitis is much more likely and both are probably pretty low on the likely to transmit scale.  My kid was bit all the time at daycare.  I assume they probably washed it with soap and that was good enough for me.

  • HIV/AIDS is not transmittable through saliva.

If the person had an open wound in their mouth and blood got into the cut, then yes, MAYBE. But not through saliva alone. The mom is crackers.

  • Could her child have AIDS and she wants the other child tested as a precaution for them? Otherwise, I don't get why she wouldn't just get her child tested.
