Hello. I've been answering questions and adding in my two cents here and there, and then I noticed in The Rules that we're supposed to introduce ourselves. I'm never sure what to say and what to not say and feel like a jack hole while writing it, so I don't tend to do these, but here goes.
I'm six weeks pregnant, as you can see on the lovely ticker. I've had an early miscarriage and a son, so I hate it when doctors and nurses ask me what number of pregnancy this is. It should be in my file or chart or whatever. I've been married four and a fraction years to a wonderful man I met in high school, way back in 2000. I have no pet, but I do have two plants that seemed strong enough to name: Phyllis the Tall and Green (I never remember what kind she is) and Gertrude the Philodendron. There's also a perennially dying herb garden in the kitchen window, but I don't name them anymore. I'm medium nerdy, pop culture examples include the following: Star Wars and Star Trek (original series and TNG) and LOTR but not Dr Who or manga or Comicon or LARPing, if that makes sense. I'm a Christian (specifically Lutheran, very specifically ELCA), but I love science and am sad how determined creationists are in their ignorance. I work in a medical library, which is awesome except when I'm pregnant and looking up articles on outcomes for extremely premature neonates and things like that. Or operation photos. Sometimes they're cool, but sometimes it's like being punched in the stomach with a photo.
That leads in to my question. Does anyone else have an interest in the kind of articles doctors and nurses read about birth and pregnancy? I can't help reading at least the abstract when I'm finding that kind of article, and if anyone else wants the knowledge I'm happy to share. Of the top of my head, I can think of a systematic review of water birth, for example.
Re: Belated intro and question about evidence based medicine
Ha, that's why I just did an overdue intro today. I enjoyed reading yours! I'm also interested in your knowledge from reading articles. Congrats!
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
