Parenting after a Loss

NBR - Woohoo!

I've officially set up my first day back to work as October 14th and I'll be part time!! I'm SO excited!! SOOO excited!!

I work as a scientist for a pharma company, so to have this approved is AWESOME!  Not to say it's impossible, but very few other groups at my company doing active research have part time employees, so this is a huge win for me!! My original request to go part time was denied, which then lead to a lot of discussion between my husband and I about what we planned to do.. ultimately, even though it would have been a huge career hit, I decided I would put in my 2 weeks and take 2 years off to stay home with my boys.. towards the end of my pregnancy, I started cluing in a few PIs I was working with just so they knew not to plan for my return come next year... well, apparently senior management decided to acknowledge how serious I was about leaving if part time wasn't an option, and suddenly their opinions changed!! I was hesitant all along, wondering if it would actually go through, even though before I went out on leave they said it would.. (but, my main manager who was advocating for me was leaving, so I had to "count on" my director to hold to his word.. hence the worry).. anyway, it's all a go!! I'm SO excited!

Career wise and family wise this is the best move.. I'm still staying in pharma.. I'm still staying current with the science.. and, now I have the additional 2 days home with my boys every week!! Squee!  I honestly could not be happier :)
