Ok so I remember with C I had a very strict, regimented schedule with her that I rarely strayed from. She would eat and nap at 10am and 2pm, in bed at 7. Now that we have 2, I find that we just eat, nap, and go to bed whenever the heck we have time. There's no schedule or crazy stress with it at all and she seems fine. I wish I had this relaxed attitude the first time around! Will this bite me in the butt later?
Re: Why was a schedule so important again?
We were pretty relaxed in the beginning, but once DS2 got to be around 6 months old and solidly on that "2 nap a day" routine we've stuck to it about 75% of the time.
I don't mind staying home in the mornings and having DS2 take his morning nap in his crib. It gives DS1 and a bit of 1-on-1 time.
But now that he's alllmmmost ready to drop the morning nap we will go out in the mornings on the weekends and he'll usually end up cat-napping in the car. Then we go home for afternoon naps for both kids.
Overall DS2 seems much more flexible than DS1 ever was. Not sure if it's just his personality or the fact that he's the second child or a bit of both.
