A visit to L&D at 21 weeks (warning-long)

So I ended up at L&D last night after talking to the dr on call and as I am just 22 weeks today I was freaking out! Started over the weekend with cramps and ligament pain and they gave me some things to look for - which included keeping an eye out for an increase in discharge. I had some more discharge and cramps during the day and figured it was growing pains or something minor but when I got home I had a huge glob of CM (sorry TMI) and freaked out. Of course I was thinking what if it's my mucous plug? ( I had a friend who lost her babies after losing her mucous plug around this time). The doctor on call said to come in so he could check me. At this point I was a little bit relieved he would check and make sure everything was ok and a little panicked that it was a problem. My husband walked in from work and I told him to change out of his work clothes and off we went to the hospital, which is luckily only like 15 minutes away. They hooked me up to the heartrate monitor and the contraction monitor right away and it was a relief to hear the heartbeat as always. The doctor, resident, and a medical student (teaching hospital) came in and he said since he knew this was an IVF pregnancy they were going to be extra careful with me. They did a bunch of tests checking my cervix, looking for infection, measuring amniotic fluid, etc. We were there for a while but I was so happy with how thorough they were and how they explained everything to me as they went. It makes me so happy to know they will be there for LO and I through the next 18 weeks! I wonder if I will be able to worry less once I get to full term or at least close to it? I think it's here to stay unfortunately!
