Do they still call you "kids"?
My parents call DH and I by our first names, same with my siblings and their spouses. If we are all together and they are stating dinner is ready, it's a "dinner is ready call".
Inlaws call DH and I plus SIL "the kids". Think "Kids, dinner is ready". It bothers my husband, probably because in addition to calling us the kids his mother generally treats him/us like we're still minors.
Got me thinking about what other people's parents call them now that we're all grown adults.
Re: What do your parents call you (other than your name)?
I have 2 sisters and my parents would say "girls, dinner is ready". MH's parent's would say "kids, dinner is ready". My mom also calls me darlin all the time. It doesn't bother me to be called "the girls" or "the kids" at all!
In fact, I kind of like feeling young for once!
But in general when speaking of my brothers and I, they say "the kids" which I'm fine with !
"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."
andreab7412 My Dad still calls me by my childhood nickname, bear. Apparently I used to growl before I could talk and I was a bit clumsy, like a bear.
We all hang in the kitchen when we're over there and food is being prepped, so a general call isn't necessary. I think if needed, though it would be, "Alright ya'll, dinner is ready!"
My family does a lot of nicknames - I'm boo, bouchie, boo boo to just about everyone. But my dad calls me pretty. Like, when I call, he answers, "hey pretty".
