How much work have you missed this pregnancy?

I'll be the first to admit I'm a wimp when I don't feel well and the fact I'm stuck at work for twelve hours makes it harder to just " suck it up". I've been dealing with migraines and now since stopping my metformin it appears my gallbladder is irritated with me. I feel bad missing work.

Re: How much work have you missed this pregnancy?

  • I called out 1 day and left a little early a couple days.

I am a supervisor at a drug store and its hard to deal with customers when you have to run away from them and go to the bathroom because you think you may puke haha

  • one day for being sick, but I worked from home. I also missed a day when i had our NT scan with the MFM and a follow up with the OB, 6 hours at the doctors does not leave much time for work, but I made it up working a 12 hour event that Saturday...

  • None. I feel ya on the migraines. Most days I have a headache during the day, which escalates into a migraine in the evening.

  • No sick days, just personal hours when I had appointments... but I can work from home whenever I feel like it so for almost the entire first trimester I was non existent on site. :)

I was able to take quick naps in between conference calls and working issues and even better, the bathroom is right outside my home office.

Making up for the lack of site visits now that I am feeling better. Everyone on site knows I'm pregnant now and it's funny when they tell me that I look great and not even remotely tired or sick. Oh if they only knew!

  • none.  I'm a toughie...and a workaholic.  I should also mention that I didn't go back to work for the new school year until 8/19 so I had the first 6 weeks of pregnancy (which were not that bad off)  I was only feeling bad weeks 6-9.  I suppose that gives me more slack than most.

  • I took 2 sick days when my MS was at its worst. Told everyone I had a nasty cold/flu instead. I took 1 vacation day yesterday for my NT scan and first OB appointment. Told everyone I was just taking a 3-day weekend with DH.

  • None, but I'm lucky in that I don't have a job where I have to be "on" every moment. If I needed to shut my office door and stare at the computer screen for 10 minutes or get up and pee every 15, I can get away with it.

  • None, except half a personal day for my first OB visit. All my other appointments I just schedule around lunchtime. I haven't been sick, just exhausted. I'm often 10-20 minutes late because it's just so hard to get moving in the morning and because just when I'm about to head out the door I either get super hungry or suddenly have to use the bathroom. :-/

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • 2-3 sick days when i just needed more sleep and/or couldnt keep anything down. And some time for appointments. I work from home though so I've been lucky in that the bathroom is right there.

  • On record, half a day. But I've snuck a few hours off coming a little late or leaving a little early if we were slow and I was feeling bad.
  • Half a day, my BP was super high and my school nurse sent me home.
  • Just a few hours due to appointments.

I'm a teacher so even if I don't feel well I'd rather just suck it up and go to work rather than find a sub and write sub plans.
  • A lot.  I can't get any time banked because my appts are so frequent so every month I have to use what I am earning, and sometimes I even need more than that.  I am high risk so I'm already at appointments every two weeks.  This month alone I have three appts (which I have to come in or leave early 2-3 hours) and I have surgery this week which means two days off.  Last month I had several appts and was in the ER one day for a UTI and dehydration.  It sucks, but my health and my LO's health comes before work.

  • None. I've had my schedule made around dr appts so I'm still working all of my hours. I've had a really easy pregnancy though... No morning sickness... Just slight nausea for 2 weeks and fatigue of course
  • None. Saving every bit of time I can to 'cash in' sick leave when baby comes so that I will at least hopefully have almost two weeks of pay out of the 12 weeks off
  • None. I get a very generous amount of paid vacation and sick leave annually, and I am stocking up every single day I can for maternity leave.

  • I've only taken two personal days for appointments, but not because I'm super tough or anything - it's mostly because my sickness/nausea happens mostly in the evenings so I've been okay at work. I have plenty of sick days to take if I need them and I wouldn't hesitate to do so if I actually wasn't feeling well. Also, I haven't told my boss yet so I'd like to have a great record of working through these first few months when I do tell her, so she can't claim it's affecting my work.

  • 4 days sick... 2 days for very extreme MS which almost landed me in ER. The other 2 was extreme migraine that I ended up throwing up and going to the doctors about. I have taken some time here and there for appointments. I have a bit of leave, but I'm trying so hard to save up my leave time.

  • I have not missed any for pregnancy related issues, but I did enjoy a few days off when my parents were in France and could not watch my daughter. Not that taking care of an almost 2 year old can be considered relaxing time off... ;)
  • nada, only a few hours for appts. I have anxiety about not being at work and how things will be messed up if I'm ever gone, so I rarely take a day off.

  • Officially I've completely missed one full day and probably two half days due to SCH drama.  I ended up having to tell my boss at 7 weeks because I had so many doctors appointments and needed to be able to flex my schedule. Luckily she was very accommodating and I was able to make up most of the time I spent at doctors appointments.
  • I work part time and have called off two days and left early once.

  • Maybe 10 in all? That counts days I went in and had to leave. HG is a blast. I actually missed today and yesterday bc I was in the ER all night. Luckily we own our firm so I'm very flexible.
  • I should also mention that I'm late almost every day. For some reason the vomits like to hit me at about 8:45 every morning.
  • So far, I missed one day of work because of a migraine, one day because I was in the ER (severe nausea), and one afternoon for my first medical appointment. I managed to have my ultrasound, bloodworks and other appointments before going to work. I'll try to keep this way, since I hate missing work as well, and I just can't prevent these stupid migraines...
  • I've missed work for my several (by several i mean this week.i have 5) doctor appointments but i work in the same building. One day i went home early cause i was bleeding and cramping and my doctor told me to lay down. My doctor has also cut my work hours to 8 a day. I haven't missed a full day of work yet i just work through the pain
