Worth it or not?

I don't have a care seat for this lo yet, I know he will be here in about 10 weeks but I'm waiting for some money and I've been doing a ton of comparing online. Well today I found this new seat and I'm wondering if you guys think it's worth the extra money or not. I know your not experts but just looking for opinions.
I was just going to get a $80 seat at my local walmart that I like and that I have found good reviews on, but this looks like it may save me money in the long run. With DS1 I'm already on my 4th seat.

Re: Worth it or not?

  • That's the one we got just in a different print. The stroller is sold separately that it goes with. Over all the ones at BRU they recommended this one the most but the price isn't the lowest for two separate pieces. I liked the stroller that goes with this since it wasn't as bulky as others but I think it's just what your preference is. Many other moms here can recommend others that may be just as good but this is the one we went with.

  • IMHO, the infant seats that have high weight limits are a waste of money. They either outgrow the height limit or become way too heavy to carry in the infant seat. DS outgrew his infant seat just before 5 months because he was so tall (and he was starting to fuss in the smaller seat). We switched him to the Graco MyRide 65 and it's been great. It looks like he will be able to use that one until he switches to a booster. I'm just curious, but how did you go through 4 car seats with your other LO? That seems like a lot...

  • IMO. I don't think so. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing because it doesn't seem like it will last too long. Do you still have your previous seats? Why not reuse those?

I'm curious how a 2 y/o will fit?  I would think he would be to tall and his head would extend above the back.  I'm intrigued to say the least.
This was my thought too.  We had to get the next seat size up when DS hit 10 months.
  • Personally I don't think it is worth it depending on the max height like PPs mentioned. I switched to a graco MyRide 65 as soon as DD could safely sit her stroller. I hind site I wish I had just gone straight for the 65 because we rarely used the travel system so if you are trying to save money you can go that route.
  • I am going straight to the convertible seat and skipping the infant carrier (unless of course he is too small). This made more sense to us, than using a seat for a very limited amount of time.
  • I would just go for two different car seats. We used the Graco Snugride and the Graco MyRide 65. The two actually cost less than that one car seat, so I'm not seeing the advantage. My DD is still in the MyRide and is still RFing (she just turned 2). With a limit of age 2, what do you get? A convertible anyway?

It would also depend on if you plan on more children. My DD just turned 2 and she will continue to use the MyRide until she is 3. At that point, #2 will move into that carseat and I will have to get another for DD. So in my case, if I didn't have the two carseats, it wouldn't have worked as well.

  • You need to go by inches when purchasing a car seat, not weight. How on earth is a 2 yo going to fit in an infant car seat? They would be hanging out of that thing and incredibly unsafe...
  • I'm also super curious why you can't just reuse one of the carseats from your older LO? This would be the cheapest option at this point. i cant imagine having to buy 5 carseats!

Also, how did you go through 4 seats so far? Not at all being snarky but very curious.
