DH more or less gave me no choice about going to lunch with his family on Saturday. It was either I stay home alone while he takes our kids to lunch with them which is no good, or I go with an monitor what the beast has to say and do.
First of all she claimed we never told her the sex of #4, bull crap. I was there when H sent you the same text everyone else got also you responded with "Well at least you already have 2 boys."
But best of all she asked what her name was and I told her "Savannah" the look on her face made me giddy. She was not trying to hide the fact that she hates the name. Kept trying to get me to name her Sue, aka tried to get me to name the baby after her.
She has liked none of the kids names and told me flat out Samuel sounded like (direct quote here) "a gay persons name."

Re: I'm so excited MIL hates the babies name
Then she intentionally lied about ingredients in a dish, knowing I'm allergic to nuts. Also she called CPS on us for DD once because she was angry I sent DD to daycare instead of letting her watch her.
I try to limit my interaction with her but H likes the rest of his family, and honestly they're decent people, and to be friends with "the family" you have to be "friends" with her.

My Blog: Whispers from a Working Mom
Then I got KU and DH wanted us to let his family see the baby. Shortly after DD was born I went back to work. MIL apparently had been under the assumption DD was going to stay with her during the day: note I worked at a daycare so I was in the same building as my daughter. There was an incident the 2nd week where a new walker fell on DD and gave her a huge welt on her face. We saw MIL in the store a few days later and I told her about it, it was still purple, and she went "That's what you get for putting her in daycare." About 6 hours later CPS was at our door about a report of abuse. Luckily I had the daycare's incident report and the dr's visit summary around.
I now avoid her like the plague but sometimes she unavoidable. So I take pleasure in the little things, like her hating the name of my kid.

She sounds like a real peach.
I would have grinned really big at her look of disgust about the name. Savannah is a great name, btw.
She sounds worst than mine. Mine never tried to kill me. Although she did drop by one day while I was folding laundry in the living room and made a comment about how if any of the therapist from ECI came over and saw my house they would report me to CPS. For folding clean laundry in the living room? Her house is literally covered in layers of dust because she hordes "collectibles". She has shelves of porcelain praying hands and McDonald's toys. Not kidding.
She also asked us if we were sure about the name of DS2 and gave us a funny look when we told her. It's her husband's name so I would have thought she would have approved.
2.. She sounds lovely and am in shock you aren't naming the baby after her 8->
January siggy challenge
Savannah is a lovely name, but I'm biased because it is also my name and I love it!
Sorry that you have such a wack job for a MIL, you're handling her well though!!
