What are your double stroller rec's? I think I prefer a tandem style. I haven't had the need for a stroller yet but I can now finally get out with both kids so I'm in the market now for a double stroller. My oldest will be 17 month on the 18th.
Why did you hate the sit n' stand? I think I'm kind of against anyways but curious to hear your thoughts. I'm leaning away from the side-by-side because of the width. I like to go shopping a lot and I could see it being a problem going down aisles.
I did a lot of stroller research and ended up with the City Mini Double (side by side). At first i was going to get a tandem, but after reading the reviews a lot of people complained they were hard to control. But now that I have it, I love it. Both seats recline (which was a big selling point for me) and it has very big canopies (also big selling point for me since I live in FL). Now that I have it and have used it, my only complaint is that the under basket is small. But it steers very easily and I haven't had trouble fitting through doorways. I love it.
@Cromie- this is one of the stroller that is on my short list. Glad to hear that you like it. I'm actually going to Bed Bath and Beyond with the kids and my husband to try it out.
@Motang- I am not a huge fan of the side-by-side but I keep hearing they are much easier to steer and control. I am however considering the City Mini Select with the added seat as another option. I am just not sure I want to spend that kind of money on a double stroller and I am not sure if the lower seat will be practical.
I have the City Select and it is hard to steer but not terrible. If I could get another stroller is get the City MIni double. But, I'm sure they both have pros and cons. I do like that I can change the seat positions and use the bassinet or car seat. It's working for us so far but it's a big investment because everything comes separately
@5953fpp Yeah...I'm not sure I want to make that investment. It's looking as though there is no one size fits all double stroller. I guess I'll have to weigh out the pro's and cons. I'm surprised that there are so many moms of two small children that have multiple double strollers.
We have the UppaBaby Vista with the Rumble seat and we really like it. I wasn't sure if DS1 would be I'm with facing me rather than facing out but he seems to love it!
I have twins, rather than an older/younger combo, but we have the Combi Twin Sport. It's a side by side, but fits through doorways pretty easily, is easy to steer, folds up compactly, weighs only 23 pounds, and was about half the cost of the City Mini Double. I think each seat holds up to 45 pounds.
I have a city select and a kinderwagon hop. Kinderwagon is a tandem umbrella stroller. It's the smallest tandem ever and folds up tiny. Your younger baby has to be at least 3 months and have some trunk strength to use it. The back seat reclines about 45 degrees but not a full recline for a newborn.

I have a Valco Baby for my twins and I could not live without it. It is easy to turn, lightweight, and fits through doors. I also have a Baby Trend double stroller that isn't bad, but feels a lot heavier and bulkier than the Valco. Another bonus to the Valco is you can buy a joey seat and make it a triple if needed.
I have Valco Snap Dual and love it. I' had a SnG and a G-luxe for DS1 and was actually looking at Maclarens, but this Valco is lighter weight. It is two inches wider than the City Select and has a bigger basket than the City Mini. Plus it was newborn rated.
The fold is amazing...it really is one step and you can push with one hand. My mom got me a sit n stand as well...but they just don't compare.
I have the Contours Options LT tandem double stroller. It's excellent and was a fraction of the price of many doubles (looking at you City Select!). I just can't justify spending 600.. 800 + on a stroller...
Anyway it's easy to push, has a huge basket, fits in my Corolla trunk, and I like how the seats can face any direction!
I have the City Select double with two seats, although so far we've only used one seat plus the carseat adaptor. It's great. It is definitely not as easy to maneuver as my Bumbleride single stroller but I think that's the peril of four wheeled strollers anyway.

I think we're stroller soul mates. We had the bumble ride and now the city select. I misssssss my bumbleride.
With the tandem strollers, it makes a big difference how you distribute the weight. Right now I have DS in the front and LO in car seat, and it is difficult to steer and get up curbs. (But im comparing to the easiest strollet ever). But when I wear LO and put DS in the centre it is MUCH easier. When I start using the second seat I'll have DS's weight centred.
