Pediatrician Interviews..

Hey ladies.. need some input here...We have a pediatrician picked out... rave reviews from people we know and trust...

We haven't met him personally but I called to tell them we picked him... and I asked them if we needed to meet with him before the birth and they said it's really up to us..

Have any of you interviewed your pediatricians and if so did you find it helpful...

I didn't interview our pediatrician. We talked to/asked friends who they used. There were 2 major ones people tended to respond with. A few of our friends had been with 1 place and switched to the other. Both places had websites so we could compare information and their websites both answered every question I had planned on asking at an interview. As far as our specific pediatrician, that was whoever was on call the day I delivered. She was and is absolutely amazing and we're blessed to have her in our lives. She really goes above and beyond. I simply called the office a few weeks ago, asked if they were taking new patience (they were) and asked if I could specifically ask for a certain doctor and they said yes. I was so happy to hear that we will have her as our pediatrician again.

I did the same thing... I called the office and they're like ok which doctor do you want? I think DH and I are going to discuss it more tonight.. I just feel silly for some reason...

I am not interviewing my choice, but am going ahead with choosing her due to all of the rave reviews by friends I trust. I also found answers to all of the questions that I would ask on the office's website. Between the recommendation from friends and the information I read up on, I feel secure enough in my choice to pass the interview portion.

We are actually going with the pediatrician office I used to go to as a kid - so I trust the office, but thought it would be helpful to figure out how they work and who we will actually see (Dr. or NP) depending on the purpose of the visit. They hold "new parent" meetings every other Friday at noon, which they say will be with up to 3 other couples. I think it will be kind of neat to be with other people who may ask questions I never thought of.
