I had a breastfeeding class today and they very briefly discussed birth plans and suggested having one for even a c-section; I hadn't thought of this and am now looking for resources. Do any of you have one from a previous birth that you would like to share or do any FTM have one or a resource for one they would recommend?
Re: FTM & STM: C-section birth plan
I don't want my arms strapped down
Stitches instead of staples
Give baby to my DH and have him lay baby on my chest after the initial check up and baby stays there while they finish sewing me up.
Bring baby to recovery right away, baby stays with me the whole time.
Remove catheter ASAP so I can get walking and moving ASAP (I had to make sure to have the dr not write "orders" for a 24 hour cath or the nurses will not remove it until they get an ok)
All of these things were fine and I will have them all again this time.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
I'm pretty sure you're only allowed 1 person in the OR with you during a regular/routine c/s. In emergency cases they typically don't allow anyone in with you.
My hospital does not do Epi's for Csections. That is fine. I have had spinals. I know to request that they do NOT attempt the smaller needle. I am prone to the spinal headaches so they like to try that first. Has never worked and always get stuck with a larger one. So no small needle.
Out side of that, Only my one arm gets strapped down, The baby is put on my chest already right away, and they take her to do their things after a few minutes. She is waiting for me in recovery where I get immediate skin to skin with her.
I will be requesting no visitors except my kids until 4:00pm. I only have one family member that it is an issue with. So it is really directed at her. I am a morning Csection and my older 2 get out of school at 3:30pm. No one but the one person will be to the hospital before 4:30pm anyway, so it just works out that the kids will see the baby first... and then grandpa and all of them. I am just not a fan of a packed room and well, my kids and their caregiver and daughter already makes my room full. So.... That and we wanted to let grandparents know the sex before it was common knowledge... said family member has a good heart but a huge mouth.
