Spit up through nose and flailing arms :(

my 11 week old spits up and it comes through his nose! He gets so scared and flails his arms. He does a straight back and arches it. I try to put him on his side so that it comes out more easily without choking him. I guess it must feel like he's drowning. Poor baby. But I burp him and keep him seated upright after feeding. This even happens 2 hours after he's feeding. Every so often he will also get gassy and cranky with spit up that looks like spoiled milk but its only once in a while. Any suggestions

  • Sounds like reflux

  • But it only happens once in a while. I wonder why. Anything I can do to prevent?
  • Reflux can come and go. Some days they can have zero spit ups and then the next day have more than one bad spit up. Bring it up to your doctor. For my baby Pepcid helped and putting him in a rock n play a lot for the incline.
  • When mine spit up and it comes out their nose, it's bc they were horizontal and I didnt get them up to vertical fast enough.

One of my boys has reflux and he spits up constantly. And screams a lot. Zantac has been helpful.

My other boy is a happy spitter and he'll spit up through his nose occasionally but doesn't react like he's in pain while he does it.
