From the mouths of babes...

Yesterday my 10 year old nephew saw a picture of my son with all the wires and monitors attached... For the first time. His reaction was one of fear I think and he said "eew gross. Get that away" I calmly told him that it was E and he got tears in his eyes and looked so sad. He apologized and said he didn't know and that he didn't mean it. I know he didn't mean anything mean or hurtful. He absolutely adores E and spends as much time as he can with him. But it was the first time I realized the beautiful pictures of him fighting in his first days could have that effect on people. Now I wonder if I "grossed out" my friends by posting and sending pictures of him. I can't change it and wouldn't. I'm proud of him and always have been but I never thought of it!

    He's a really great kid... and is so in love with my son. He has 2 younger brothers but will play with  his cousin before his brothers any day haha he says things like "i can't wait to teach you this.. or that" it's really cute. That's how I know he would never mean it in a mean way... it was honest and he was probably scared.  It was scary and I told him that.  I told him I was just as scared when I first saw him so I understood how he felt but then I dropped it because he was really embarrassed.

    Hmm. I suppose there will always be people who will see our LOs pictures and think that we tortured them or something, but I believe the majority think they are miracles. I have issues with that word, but you get the intent!

    I was always worried about that too with G's early pics but almost everyone thanked me for posting them & keeping them updated on his progress. I'm sure it probably did freak some people out, but that's their problem. Maybe that sounds harsh but it's our reality and we couldn't be more proud of our little guy's fight.

    oh my goodness Direy... your son looks SO much like mine that I had to do a double take! Clearly I think he's adorable :-) I keep looking at him and thinking it is one of my pictures!!! haha
