BP question

Ok so I went for NST on Friday and was having contractions and they kept me for awhile I thought to keep an eye on it. I didn't even realize technically I had been admitted until I had to wait for a Dr to sign me out. They kept taking my BP but no one said anything so i didn't ask...but I noted it was high 138/101... my base is 100-110/ 80-90. I was discharged though and thought nothing more of it. Today my Dr who I normally see calls me and says he wants me at the hospital first thing in the am bc he didn't like the combo of contractions and high bp. Im baffled bc its a Sunday so he must be concerned bug even more that the other Dr sent me home if it was this concerning. I still have no idea why its concerning though. My c section is scheduled next Sat so im baffled as to whether this means they might move it up...or I might just need to go everyday to be monitored. BTW I have no signs of pre e just hypertension. Anyone have a similar experience and how did your Dr handle it? Im 36 weeks 3 days mo Di twins:)

Re: BP question

  • I had high blood pressure from 36 weeks on....I was monitored every 3-4 days by my doctor.  My OB pulled me out of work and had me on modified bed rest.  I didn't need to be laying down all the time but he wanted me to lay down for most of the day.  At that point it was just hypertension.  Once I reached 38 weeks he found protein in my urine so I had started to develop pre-eclampsia.  I was induced the next day.  I had di/di twins, not sure if that makes a difference.
Good luck, it can be scary but it's good they are monitoring you!

  • Same thing happened to me at 36.2. My doc had blood work done at my appt. my platelet count came back low so she called me and told me to go to birth center for 24hr urine collection and blood work every 6 hrs. I delivered via csection the next evening. Protein ended up showing in my urine so I was developing pre-e. it is good they are monitoring you. Good luck!!
  • I had the same issue. I was 34+4, my nst wasn't looking good, they did a urine sample, sent me for a BPP. Then they did blood work. I had protein in my urine, my platelet count was low, liver enzymes were high and my BP was elevated (I'm usually a 89/58, I was 110/99ish). My BPP didn't come back favourable either so I was going in that day (within the hour) for a c/s.

  • My BP was high off and on in my third tri. The day I delivered I woke up that morning with headache and even higher bp. Ob sent me to the hospital for monitoring and blood work. I did not have protein in blood or urine. I did have pregnancy induced hypertension and was in preterm labor that later escalated to active labor.
