Diaper Bag Recommendations?

I have been to three different stores looking at diaper bags and nothing has really stood out to me. I want something that is comfortable on my shoulder and roomy enough to carry everything I need. Looks are also important.  :)  Do any STM's have a diaper bag they love and would recommend? Or a bag they hated and can tell me what it was lacking? Thanks!

Re: Diaper Bag Recommendations?

  • I'm not really going to be much help, but I want to say thanks for asking! I am also having this same problem. Someone posted about Vera Bradley bags being on sale on their website, and I really do like them, but with shipping and fees to bring it here, the price of the bag went from 50-95$ so that idea went out the window.

  • I love love LOVED my JujuBe  Be All for my first. It was awesome. I'm contemplating getting another one for this one, but I have a nice 31 bag that I'm going to try to make work.

  • I have a skip*hop bag that has been overly used for almost 8 years! I love it. I like the handles that can strap around stroller handles. I'm likely getting a new one, just because. The one I have shows very little wear and tear. They have them at Target.con
  • I think I'm going to get the Kate Spade Stevie bag on Black Friday if they've a good deal.
  • I love my petunia pickle bottom. The only problem I had with it was that the Velcro closing was HUGE and super loud to open...but I heard that they've resolved that on the newer bags.

I ordered this and received it from a Kate Spade secret sale.  It's the black and navy striped one and I'm crazy about it!  I want to use it before because it's so cool but I'm forcing myself to wait.  I surprised my husband with a Patriots one that looks like a computer bag so he has one too.

  • I have a Jonathan Adler skip hop bag, and I love it!! It's held up so well, the design is great, and I love the magnetic closures on it

  • *Hoping* to get one of these Holly Aiken bags. I own a purse by her and its so incredibly durable and has lasted me forever.

Not sure if they have many features that are worth having or not, but the bags are super cute and can be customized, too.
  • Loving the recommendations. The links are really helpful, too. There are so many choices out there. I saw the Skip Hop bags and some of those were cute. I didn't think I could afford a Kate Spade (or forgive myself if I destroyed it haha)

@rowanthefrog - my friend just raved about the JuJuBe bag she got, as well. Where did you get yours? I checked out some of the styles at Buy Buy Baby and wasn't too thrilled with their selection.

  • My favorite diaper bag with both my older kids, and DH loved it too because he didn't feel it was un-manly to carry, was a nice black leather or canvas back-pack. We actually just got it at a little store in the mall, not a baby store kind of thing. It worked perfectly, and places like LandsEnd would have the ones with compartments and stuff if you really wanted to be particular about organizing it.

  • Oh, things to consider though...
    *easy clean-up is a must
*size- you don't want something that feels like luggage for everyday use
*will it grow with your child/family... not necessary for it to hold more, but will it still work when your child is a toddler or say if you have a toddler and a baby later down the road.

Also, I ended up having a tiny little purse sized bag later on for quick outings, so like if I just needed to go to the grocery store and the post office, I'd just bring two diapers, a travel wipes, and a onesie, maybe a little pair of cotton pants if it was chilly weather.

  • I had a Petunia Picklebottom boxy backpack that wasn't my favorite.  Didn't open wide enough so had to dig for stuff.  Then I got a Marc by Marc Jacobs Elizababy bag that was/is awesome.

I honestly have no idea, I bought it 6 years ago. But I see a ton online. They are on sale on amazon for $99 which is a decent price. I think I remember paying about $120 for mine.

  • I'm planning on getting a coach diaper bag. I have gotten one for my SIL and friend and they both loved them. The coach outlet randomly has online sales and baby bags show up on there once in awhile so I just keep an eye out. They end up costing around $100-$150. They are nice quality and stylish and seem to be pretty functional.

I have the convertible baby bag from Vera Bradley. You can wear it messenger style, backpack or over the shoulder. I love it!

ETA: I have it in the Jazzy Blooms print.

  • I have the JuJuBe BFF which I really like...I'm guessing I overpack though because I fill it with just my one baby:) but I really liked the quality of the JuJuBe bags and I got mine on an amazon mom appreciation event for 20% off last year. I love ordering from Amazon!

  • I have no idea on diaper bags as this will be my first one. My MIL is buying me a Vera Bradley Baby Bag to match the tote (great for a plane carry on) she bought me last year for Christmas. I am then buying my DH a Purdue Diaper bag (all black with a slanted P alumni logo) so that he can have his own and not have to use a colorful flowery one :). I'm hoping he likes the surprise!

I have the BabyMel Amanda Bag in Black/White floral and LOVE it.  I get compliments every time I use it.  I've had it since Brynn though, so I'm going to be getting a new/bigger bag this time around (b/c I'll have TWO babies, really. ahem.) but I highly recommend the BabyMel:

(Maybe in Twilight Tiger Lily, Breakfast in Berkshire, Classically Crete or Oslo in Bloom. Can't decide and I'm waiting for the next sale.)

@mrsjenni I'm going with Breakfast in Berkshire:)
@BMReid- I really like that one!  And it's neutral, which is always a plus.  I also found this one, which is new for fall and I kinda love it: https://www.amazon.com/Petunia-Pickle-Bottom-Weekender--Scandinavia/dp/B00EDB12RW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1379339296&sr=8-5&keywords=petunia+pickle+bottom+weekender

  • I have a Skip Hop diaper bag. My only issue with it (and it is a major issue) Almost everyone of the zippers on the bag does not work anymore. Something is wrong in the zipping that causes it to split open. It is so frustrating. This happened pretty soon after I bought it. I was hoping mine was just defected and this is not an issue with every Skip Hop bag...

The plus side of the bag: I can fit a lot, great storage/compartments, cleans and washes very easily, and to me the biggest plus: It clips directly onto the stroller so I do not have to lug it around.

  • I got this one from Kipling because I think it is very good for man to carry as well... and DH liked it ;)

I got it on sale, plus coupons, etcetcetc and it ended up about $60.00

    https://www.kipling-usa.com/new-baby-l/TM2406.html?dwvar_TM2406_color=001#q=baby&start=3

And when I got I didn't know if it was a boy or a girl... So, I really like it.
