Tell me about your camera...

I'm sure we are all obsessed with taking photos of our LOs, right?

I have had an interest in photography for awhile and want to take the plunge and get a DSLR. I'm leaning more toward a Canon, probably a Rebel T3i. What cameras do you recommend? Do any of you have a DSLR that you would or wouldn't recommend? TIA!

Re: Tell me about your camera...

  • I have a Canon T2i and love it! It was easy to learn and use. I also invested in a 50mm prime lens and it was worth it - the pictures are much better than a kit lens.

  • I have a Nikon D90 and love my camera! That said, I have heard good things about Canon and extra things like lenses seem to be cheaper for Canon.
  • I just got the Cannon rebel Ti3 right after LO was born... I love it!! There is a learning curve & our adorable babies don't sit still or hold the cute pose while we learn, so just practice & play with it before trying to get the important photos :)

I second the bit about the 50mm. It's my favourite lens. Highly recommend it, it takes great photos!

  • Canon Rebel t4i.  Definitely.  It's awesome.  There's already a newer version, the t5i, but the t4i is great.

  • There are so many options!!!!
  • I have the rebel t3 and love it. Just saw an ad for a new rebel yesterday with lots of effects built in, and it's supposed to be lighter too.

I have the canon 7D, but that's probably too much camera for what you need. I just want to join the chorus singing the praises of the 50mm. I am a total canon fan girl. My opinion is they have superior lenses and intuitive menus.

  • I have a canon XS that I got 5 years ago. I also have the 50 mm and I traded the kit lens for an 18-125mm (or some similar number) so I could have a zoom lens that was better quality than the kit.
