Neck Power!

My little girl (one week tomorrow!) can lift her head on her own and hold it up for a few seconds. When I'm burping her, she will occasionally turn her head from one side to the other. Other mom's notice this much neck strength so young? Is this normal or is she a super baby? haha!

    my baby girl does the same thing and people have commented on it but I'm a FTM so I have no idea if it's normal or not. I guess we both have super babies! :p lol.

    My LO was like this. Eventually his neck would get tired, though, and start wobbling.

    Of course she's a super baby! :) My DD was like this too and seemed to have had it from out of the womb. I wonder if it has to do with how close they were born to their due date? I had her almost on the day I was due... just speculating I guess.

    I was 41 weeks 1 day and he's been doing that from day one too. It amazes me!

    My one month old has been doing it since day one he was born four minutes before his due date super baby........ I think so

    Yep, my son did this around 4-5 days old.

    DS has been lifting his head since birth. The nurse at the hospital warned us about getting too confident with it though - just because they can lift it doesn't mean they have the neck strength and control to put it back down safely.

    Yup. DD has been lifting her head since day one. She was laying on my chest in the hospital during skin to skin and lifted her head up and looked me right in the face. It was so cute. Everyone who meets her says how strong her neck is when they are holding her.

    I agree with PP though, just because they are strong enough to pick it up doesn't mean they can always safely put it back down. She tends to pick her head up while I'm burping her but then not so gently bash it into my shoulder putting it down.
