Great experience at Babies R Us today :)

I had such a great trip to Babies R Us today, I just had to share.  A few days ago I tried complete my registry online, but the completion coupon code did not work.  I called customer service and they told me I had  to go to the store to use the coupon and gave me a code to give the store.  I was quite annoyed at this point, why would they of given me an online code on the coupon if I cannot use the coupon online!!!
So when I got to the store today, they had no idea what customer service was talking about.  The girl that was helping me called the manager over to try to figure it out, she also had no idea what customer service was talking about, but she said she would do want ever she could to help me the biggest discount in store.  They took my registry and did all the shopping for me, I just had to wait for them to get everything.  The swing I wanted was cheaper online then in store, so I mentioned I would pick it up at BJ's because it was cheaper there then with the in store price with the coupon.  They met the BJ's price ($45 cheaper then in-store) and then they also looked for any other coupons I could use.  They found a handful of other coupons that helped me save more money.  There were a few items that were only online, they called customer service for me and figured out how to get the completion coupon to work there for me so I would not have to deal with customer service again.  I ended up saving over $100 extra over what I would of if I had just placed the order online and everyone in store was very helpful.
Moral of the story, don't bother calling Babies R Us customer service, just go to the store!  I was annoyed when I walked in the store and left very happy!

  • My experiences have been horrible, even down to them telling me it was 5-6 week turnaround for my glider/ottoman....then when we ordered it they told us 10-12 weeks and said they didn't know why someone told us that. 

    I'm glad you had a good experience, and that you sent a letter. I like to let companies know when they are doing a great job with customer service because it's so few and far between these days!

  • I've also had a great experience with BRU the three times I've been there. Once was to start the registry, once was to return items without gift receipts, and once was to use my completion coupon.

    I called customer service because no one could find my registry. Did not have as awesome as an experience, but the in-store visit redeemed them -- my gift receipts were a mess and the rep didn't feel like scanning every single one. My only complaint with the company itself is that they don't credit you for the purchase price of the merchandise on the gift receipt anyway -- they give you the current store sale price. A lot of my stuff had gone to clearance. NBD though. The rep was very kind and did not act like I was inconveniencing her.
    Last I went in I completely spaced and forgot my 10% completion discount at home because I'd had an appointment beforehand and was nervous about my cervical check. Once I got to the store, I asked them about this, and they handed me a 15%! Not bad. We ended up getting the CC because you can pay it off online. So that bumped the completion up to 20%, and added on an extra 10% off our carseat, base, and misc items. 
    It seems like a lot more than it was considering the items we had returned weren't returned at full merch credit, but I digress. I think in the end it somewhat balances out.

  • @WSatisfiedP That sucks. How long did it actually take you to get it (or are you still waiting)? We've been told 7-14 days for our carseat and that was about 3 days ago. Hopefully LO doesn't come before then because I'll be borrowing my mom's to take him home in! Haha

     We just ordered it the other day, so we will see.  I'm hoping it comes in much sooner than they quoted.

  • @WSatisfiedP Me too! I'm anxious for our stuff to get here now! lol. And I think I just figured out why they told you 5-7 weeks. I honestly wasn't even looking -- DH asked me how long until we get the car seat today and I looked on the piece of paper they handed us. At the bottom it says "Please allow 5-7 weeks for Bedding special order items and 10-12 weeks for Furniture special order items upon payment of deposit."

    It looks like the rep really F'ed up in your case, and told you much sooner which is a huge let down. This means he or she probably didn't even listen to what item you ordered, and just gave a standard response. 
    In our case, it's the opposite. The paper here says 5-10 days for our car seat, but the rep told us 7-14 days. Who knows...

  • Glad you had a good experience! Most of the posts about BRU are bad.

    I've had nothing but trouble with the place.....waited for over an hour to register and the place was empty, wrong personal information was entered to the registry, couldn't log in online because the password was not entered correctly, waited at the registry desk numerous times for over 30 minutes DESPITE asking for help, no one offers to help you in that store! This place is 20-30 mins away depending on traffic, and I dread going there but it's the only one around here for hours. :(
