Out of milk...?

LO is going through 3 week growth spurt. She's been latching so much tonight and is now fussing and refusing to nurse. She shakes her head and grabs and scratches my chest but is rooting as if she's still hungry. Could my supply be empty?
I'm having hubby give her a bottle of milk I had stored...only about an ounce. We can't over feed a breast fed baby right? She nurses regularly every 2 to 3 hrs so I think I'm just not keeping up with her growth spurt...?

    Keep feeding her from your breasts and do not offer a bottle. The baby needs to tell your body how much milk to produce. It's really frustrating but it will pass! The 3 week growth spurt was the worst for me.

    Your breasts are never completely out of milk. Keep nursing. It tells your body how much milk you need to produce. At our breastfeeding class they strongly encouraged breast only no bottle for the first 6 weeks to establish a good milk supply.

    It may just be that your milk flow has slowed down quite a bit and baby wants more right now. Just keep baby at the breast and it will all work out.

    Later growth spurts don't seem to be as dramatic and difficult as this first one.

    I agree with PPs, sounds like gas. Just like our breast milk, Their gas seems to have an endless supply at this age :(( try to keep at it, burping & feeding nonstop. As others have mentioned, these spurts get better.

    I had the same issue the other night. My LO was pulling off (ouch!) because she was frustrated and then she'd panic bc she wasn't getting any. I was at my wit's end. I ended up giving her a bottle of pumped milk, I was in tears thinking something was wrong with me and feeling guilty. I realized a couple days later that I was frustrated and stressing which inhibited my let down. After realizing that we've been A-Okay but it was rough!

    DD acts this way sometimes and I too worry about supply but she seems content when I am done, pees a lot and is gaining weight steadily so I'm trying not to worry about it. But I've also been worried enough to give her some of my previous pumped milk a couple of times.

    What I've been doing is keeping her at the breast as long as I can for each feeding and compressing the breast from all angles. Also, and this has been working great, I put on some white noise which relaxes her and she nurses a lot better.

    Thanks for the tips on more burping and trying to relax.

    Your breast is never truly empty. Just feed her as often as she demands and your supply with change to meet her needs. If you need a break with a bottle you still need to pump
