So my mom's cousin's wife and some of her friends have been doing this meal prepping for about 4 years and it comes down to about $4.00/meal (that's not per person)...
She did all the shopping on Thursday (mostly at Sams), then she and a few others did some pre-prepping Friday (she said 7:30-10ish) for cooking/cutting some of the chicken and a few other things, then today we all worked on various recipes (of course multiplied for quantity, but figured ahead of time for shopping purposes), and bagged everything for freezing (some things are individually wrapped before bagging for ease of defrosting and portions)....
Since they've been doing it for awhile, they pretty much know how to run it... They make some of the same things and some new things, and we were there from 9-1:15ish today. (A heck of a lot faster than prepping those meals myself!)
It's crazy because now DH and I have food for dinner that we can just pull out of the freezer, thaw, and cook for dinner ... Then still have left overs... Today was my first time participating, and I think I'm going to like most of what we made! (I'm really picky!)
Grand totals: $115 for (all quantities are how many times we can make a meal feeding both of us and have left overs) 3 meatloaf, 2 turkey taco, 2 chicken and noodles, 3 sesame marinated chicken, 3 honey mustard crusted chicken, 3 herb crusted chops, 2 chicken pot pies, 2 tortellini soups, 2 Stromboli, and 3 chicken strips (for salads, fajitas, quesadillas...)
Just wanted to share my excitement because I hate how time consuming cooking is, and this made my day!
Hoping the picture works...
