Okay- I need to vent, I am not usually one to vent, but tonight its needed. I have some friends who are SAHM's and every once in awhile they will get on their high horse and brag that they don't need to work and that their kids are so lucky to have them at home, blah blah blah. That is usually followed with a sympathetic look towards me and the statement, it must be so hard to work and not be around your child. This I have gotten used to, I can usually just brush it off and move on.
But, now many of these friends have taken up independent sales gigs- ie- 31, pampered chef, Tastefully simple, etc. Then they bug me to either come to a party and buy stuff or host a party and buy more stuff. Stuff I don't want, nor need. When I turn them down, they usually give me a guilt trip like this is the way they have figured out to make money for the household, and why can't I help them out.
Um, I don't work to support you and your SAHM income. I work to support my own family.
okay vent over.
Re: independent sales/sahm
I"m not sure how much longer I'd be calling these women "friends". ANd honestly, the next time they tried to guilt me, I'd say what you said here - you work to support your family. Not theirs.
But seriously- these women don't respect you.
