1. Nope. No tattoos for me.
2. I recently tried to teach myself to knit. It didn’t go well.
3. We bought our house just about 4 years ago. It is a 200 yr old house just outside the city limits of Philadelphia. The same family had owned it since it was built, so we are the first people outside of that family to ever own it. The house hadn’t been updated at all in about 40 years, so we did 6 weeks of pretty intense renovation before we moved in. We didn’t move any walls or change any electrical or plumbing, but there was not a single surface that was not touched. All new flooring, new paint in every room, we ripped out the kitchen and started over, new countertops in bathrooms and laundry room, new light fixtures, crown molding… it was A LOT of work, but it was so worth it.
The first picture attached is the outside of the house – totally unimpressive, I know.
The second picture is the kitchen before, and the third picture is the kitchen after.
The fourth picture is the family room after.
I could share before and after pictures all day… so I just picked my favorite two rooms which are the kitchen and the family room. J
The house is small, but it has been a great first house for us. We totally got to customize it, it was a good deal financially, it is only 15 minutes from downtown... we hope to move in the next 2-3 years to a larger family home and hopefully make a nice little profit on this house when we sell it. We consider it to be kind of like a flip that we lived in for a while!
4. 2010 Nissan Rogue. I love it!
5. Anything involving peanut butter. Yum!
6. This is a hard question b/c I LOVE music and I have super diverse taste… if forced to pic 5, I think it would be one from each genre/category I enjoy most, soooo:
· Melissa Etheridge, Skin
· Rent Soundtrack
· Journey, Greatest Hits
· Eagle-Eye Cherry, Desireless
· Sugarland, Enjoy the Ride
7. I actually haven’t seen any good movies lately, but I am looking for recommendations for this weekend. Excited to see what everyone has to say about this one!
8. I hope to make sure that each of our children feels loved/appreciated/recognized equally – or as much as possible. I am one of four kids, and my sisters and I have always struggled a bit with competing with each other for positive attention. My youngest sister and I also both feel strongly that our middle sister is the favorite. We all love each other, don’t get me wrong… but when I was growing up, I really struggled with feeling valued compared to my siblings. I really hope to avoid that dynamic with our children…
9. I have NO idea what is for dinner. I have been bad and haven’t cooked at all in about 3 weeks. IVF has taken over my life a bit and the one thing I have really let go as a result is cooking dinner every night. I ALMOST cooked last night. Even had ingredients on the counter… then I got flustered and overheated and annoyed, so I packed everything back up in the fridge and went to the grocery store around the corner and came back with ready-made soup and salad. Ha!
10. Well… let’s see… weekend plans…. Oh, I know, hopefully getting knocked up on Sunday! J <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Me - 30, My wife - 31 , Together for 10 yrs - Married August 2012
5 medicated IUIs w/ RE (March - July 2013) = BFN
Fresh IVF Cycle in September 2013 resulted in 18 mature eggs, 16 fertilized, 12 made it to day 5. Transfer of 2 Grade A blastocysts on 9/15/13, and 10 embryos in the freezer! *****BFP on 9/25/13 - betas: @10dp5dt = 232; @12dp5dt = 465; @15dp5dt = 1,581 *********William George born June 4, 2014*********Sloppy Joes. I forgot to take hamburger out, so hopefully B remembered!
1) No tats. Never really been interested in them!
2) I joined the Y recently! While I am not *entirely* new to gyms (I used to be quite the gym rat when I was a teen) I am new to the Y here in town. I'm glad we checked it out. It'll be good for DP and I to get off our duffs and go to the gym rather than sitting on the couch all night like we normally do.
3) We live in a townhouse style condo. It'll make a great rental one day if we choose to do that later on... But for now it's nice for our lifestyle. We want to stay in it at least 4 more years if we can manage because it's affordable and neither of us feels claustraphobic yet. We'll want to leave when we have kids big enough to run around, though.
4) I own an old Ford Focus and we recently bought a new Hyundai Accent. The Ford is okay. It doesn't have AC anymore but I don't have to make payments on it and it works fine. I'll probably drive it until it's dead. The Hyundai's decent - I'm unimpressed with the cheap body though. We hit a curb and the damned bumper fell off and now they want us to pay $900 to replace it. What?! Who hits a curb and has to replace the whole bumper? *grumble*
5) My favorite snack is cheese, crackers, and fruit.
6) I'd probably take 5 general "greatest hits" CDs from the late 90's and early 00's.
7) I saw Meet the Millers recently. It was pretty funny but I'd recommend seeing it at home on your TV. Just a typical romantic comedy with a little bit of action.
8) I will never criticize my body in front of my kids. My mom did that CONSTANTLY and I developed a complex when I was a teen. I went on unhealthy diets and took pills... it was bad. Now my mom is baffled because I'm fat 'n happy, but I learned I had to get over my body issues if I ever wanted to make peace with myself. Now I wish I was thinner, for health reasons. I'm taking steps to become more active and healthy so my kids see what a balanced lifestyle looks like, rather than the extremes I experienced as a kid.
9) Dinner? Um... Er... maybe lasagna? Depends on how I feel later
10) Weekend plans: I'm going out with some friends tonight, then I'm relaxing tomorrow. Sunday I have a work meeting and then I have to do my chores.
1. I have 3 the one on my back is from shoulder to shoulder and down to mid back of flowers and a cross. It needs to be colored. I figured now I will just let my littles color it with markers when they are old enough ha!
This a picture of the other two my chest says "heart of stone" (don't ask ha) the other is a tiger lily that a good friend drew for my 18th birthday.
2. Lately the only new thing I have been trying to learn is how to eat a little healthier and how to make sure I don't get naseous in the mornings before leaving for work.
3. We own our tiny little house. It's a 2 bed 1 bath, and not our forever home. It's 70 years old and we are only the 2nd owners. We have remodeled the bathroom and the kitchen. We love our neighbors and our backyard and wish the house was bigger for a family.
4. I drive a Toyota Tacoma. That will be changing before the baby comes because its not kid friendly. I don't love spending a ton of money on a fancy car so I will probably get a Kia sorrento.
5. My favorite snack right now is frosted flakes straight out of the box. Do not healthy but I will take whatever I can that doesn't make me feel sick just thinking about it.
6. I'm a music lover I couldn't pick 5 albums. I will choose to take 5 mixed CDs as well!
7. We watch a lot of documentaries in our house. None recently that I would rave about. We are excited for CMT crossroads of Stevie nicks and lady A tonight. We made a date out of it and hopefully I can convince K for take out Chinese!
8. I love @herbabymamma's answer. I have some awful credit that I'm trying to fix. It's getting better but I wish at 18 I didn't know what a credit card was. I have some the worst credit and ks credit is nearly perfect! K will definitely teach them the ropes!
9. Hopefully take out Chinese but I have a feeling from Ks text I just got it will be Mexican
10. No plans this weekend except for cleaning out closets and trading summer clothes for fall clothes in the shed
Bonus PIP
Packing up the car on our last vacation when we went to MOAB!
1. I have several tattoos. Got my first when I was 18 because I could. I haven't gotten one in about 10 years and my last one was pac-man chasing ghosts and rainbow colored dots around my ankle. The tattoo guy seemed confused, but I thought it was unique and festive! I have an armband and a "tramp stamp" lol. They are all easily hidden easily which is good for work
2. Something new I have tried...being pregnant! It has been a very interesting process and adventure. I am a biology major, and with my career I know a lot about the good, bad and ugly with being pregnant and the first year of a baby's life. I try to not be all crazy about things but it is hard. My doctor understands and has really helped me not worry about all the what ifs that can happen. I have thresholds that I have crossed, and there are still a few more that I think about that scare me. But my bean is growing great and I bought a fetal doppler so I can hear his little heart beating away when ever I want to
3. I rent my home. It is not very big, two bedrooms, one bath. But it has a great kitchen, and the backyard is huge! My neighbors don't live where I can see and hear everything that they do. It is an older house (50 years old-ish), on the edge of a historic section of the town that I live in. I absolutely LOVE old victorian homes and someday I really want to own one!
4. I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute (SUV), that is paid off! It's the first car I have paid off and it is so awesome to not have a car payment to worry about. It has been a great vehicle as well.
5. My favorite snack is cheese and avocados. Mmmm, I have an avocado sitting on my desk right now!!
6. 5 albums...I really love P!nks new album so that one for sure, Kenny Chesney- Welcome to the fishbowl and Hemingway's Whiskey, some good 80's-90's mix albums
7. Redbox and I are best friends! I recently rented Oblivion and The Iceman, both of which were really good. The last movies I saw at the theater were The Conjuring and World War Z, and they were both awesome!! I love movies lol
8. I think that my mother did a really good job raising me and my two brothers. We were strong willed children, and she just rolled with the punches. The hardest time that we went through was when I came out to her when I was 17 (20 years ago). It was hard because I am her only daughter. We had to work through a lot of things and it took several years, but now it isn't even a think which is really great. My mother is my greatest fan! I guess I would have to say I would try to improve on being accepting of my child, and not be a helicopter parent. I think you learn the best lessons by making mistakes, but having a soft place to land when you fall flat on your back, so that you don't break. I learned this from my mother
9. Dinner is going to be a microwave dinner (easiest way to eat while at work), and lots of fruits and veggies that I bring to work daily. I eat the best when I am working.
10. My weekend plans are work....
My PIP is my nephew Zach and I a couple of years ago. He loves superheros...all of them and was wearing a spiderman costume that day. He is my little buddy!
I have a circle on the inside of my left forearm. I got it in 2007 when I moved to Toronto. It means a lot of things to me including: simplicity and wholeness, a rejection of simple binaries, and a commitment to non-linear paths in life. One of the reasons I chose a circle is because when I was experimenting with different tattoo ideas I realized that a circle is the one thing the women's symbol, men's symbol, and trans symbols have in common.
>2. What is something new you have tried or learned about lately? An activity, book, movie, recipe, anything new to you!
I have tried walking as a form of exercise as opposed to just a recreation or method or transit.
3. Tell us about your home - do you live in a house, apartment? Tell us more! Bonus: PIP it!
We currently live in a small three bedroom house that we rent. At the end of the month we are moving to a two bedroom plus sunroom apartment. We will have access to an indoor pool, exercise room, and fenced leash free dog run which will help make up for moving out of a house. We will also have a dishwasher and 1.5 baths!!
4. What kind of car do you have? Do you like it?
We have a 2008 Kia Rondo, which is technically a midsize station wagon but looks more like a crossover. We like it quite a bit except for the turning radius and how it handles curves.
5. What is your favorite snack?
I'm with a lot of others in saying cheese!
6. If you were going to be isolated for a month but allowed to bring up to 5 albums/CD's with you, what would you bring?
I enjoy music but I'm not a big music person. M would probably have much more to say on this!
The must have on my list is Melissa Etheridge's album "Lucky".
I would also like the Dar Williams live album and a Kate Reid album.
Maybe the soundtrack to Chicago?
And the Beatles One album or their '62-'66 two cd set.
7. Seen any good movies lately? Theatre or on TV/internet? Tell us more!
The best we have seen is the Heat. The worst is This is the End. The most recent is the World's End, which we enjoyed.
8. What is something you hope to improve upon as a parent that your parents didn't do so well?
To be honest, my parents did an absolutely fantastic job of raising me and my brothers. Because of my own issues of worrying that I am bad and will disappoint people, I will try to make sure that my kids know that it is totally fine to mess up and make mistakes. I don't blame my parents for my issues with this but I may be more conscious of it than they were.
9. What's for dinner?
I'm babysitting so I'm eating what the family is eating. Not sure what that is.
10. Weekend plans? What are you up to?
Tomorrow I'm going to watch my baseball teammate's fast pitch softball games tomorrow. And on Sunday we have our (chosen family) nephew Elijah's third birthday party.
I'm on my phone so I can't PIP
We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255
1st ultrasound (3/6 6w 1d): TWINS!!!! Twin A measuring 6w1d with a heartbeat of 118bpm. Twin B measuring 6w0d with a heartbeat of 113bpm.
***July 18, 2014 we lost our beautiful babies at 21 weeks gestation. They were born too early. Tavin Sara T. and Casey Elizabeth T. are beautiful and precious and we will love them and miss them forever.***

Oh gosh. Yes, two. Before "yoloing" was cool, I got my first right after sept 11th 2001 and got a tramp stamp. Sigh. It's fine and all but I'm glad I don't have to see it all the time. The second came in HI after the wedding on my ankle. I'm really not someone who carries tatoos off well so I think im done.
2. What is something new you have tried or learned about lately? An activity, book, movie, recipe, anything new to you!
Roasted beets. Not as bad as I thought.
3. Tell us about your home - do you live in a house, apartment? Tell us more!
We just moved to a new house in may. We're settled in just in time for this baby.
4. What kind of car do you have? Do you like it? Jeep. I got it last year for a great deal and. I love it!
5. What is your favorite snack? I have to agree with most. I have an unhealthy obsession with cheese and have my whole life!
6. If you were going to be isolated for a month but allowed to bring up to 5 albums/CD's with you, what would you bring? Well, I was that crazy girl who always had mixes, the "perfect" mixes for any occasion, for any artist, etc. I even had playlists every month for along time. That being said, I would most likely choose some of these playlists, but if I was forced to choose actual albums... Today it would be 1200 curfews, IG, out there live, Dar, the story, Brandi carlile, led zeppelin 3, rent original cast recording.
7. Seen any good movies lately? Theatre or on TV/internet? Tell us more!
Nothing that stands out to be honest.
8. What is something you hope to improve upon as a parent that your parents didn't do so well?
Practice unconditional love. And create an environment that fosters open communication. There were many days an times even now that things go unsaid. I just never want our kids to be censored with us if they don't want to be.
9. What's for dinner?
I always hold out hope for pizza
10. Weekend plans? What are you up to? Trying to get some stuff done before potentially going into labor. Haha. Car stuff, laundry, and probably keeping my feet up. More and more people are saying get rest and stay off my feet. I think I'll try to heed the warnings.
Ok I need to stop writing such hard questions!
1. I have two tattoos – one is pretty big across my low back (a “tramp banner” as J calls it) and the other is small and on the inside of my wrist – both are yoga-related. The big one is a lotus flower I got after finishing Bikram Yoga School (9 weeks of yoga-hell); I love it but I only see it in standing-separate-leg-stretching pose J. The other is the Sanskrit for Camel Pose, which was a pose I had a total life epiphany in one day thanks to an amazing teacher. Also it was meant to detract a little from my post-weight loss plastic surgery scar.
2. I am trying to master the Liege Waffle - I think I've got it down! J is going to sell them at two of her shops...I think. Here's the link to the recipe I'm using. Not a health food.
3. We live in a 1919 Craftsman bungalow, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom 990 sq. ft. house in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. I bought it with my (ahem) ex-wife in 2001 though I had no business doing so money-wise, it was the best risk I ever took! I could never afford my house today – and J loves it. I was so glad when we met that she rented. I worried I’d have to fight over “whose house will we live in.” We keep trying to move, but re-fi’d recently after J said to me “Honey, we are not ‘big house’ people – let’s stop trying to be.’ And so, we will have a cozy home when we have kids.
4. I have a hybrid hatchback (it’s the entry-level Lexus, but I swear I’m not a d-bag, I just liked it WAY more than the prius and the cost was not much different). J has the requisite Seattle Lesbaru, a blue Forester she hauls a world of stuff around in for her businesses. I like mine ok, to be honest, I think I want a sedan again next time, and before this I had 5 VW’s in a row and kinda miss that German car feeling.
5. Cheese and crackers with some grapes and almonds is my go-to snack. Chips and salsa are my favorite that I don’t keep in the house for obvious reasons J.
6. Ok this is hard, and I meant to say “no mixes!” but – here are mine:
· Radiohead’s Ok Computer
· U2’s Unforgettable Fire
· The National’s High Violet
· Sigur Ros’ Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust
· Alt-J’s An Awesome Wave
7. We saw Elysiam in the theater last weekend and I liked it more than expected. A very obvious statement about class in America. Also we are working through Ken Burns’ The Dust Bowl on Netflix. I feel like I’m in history class, but really enjoying it as it’s quite well done. J pointed out that I obviously didn’t pay attention when reading The Grapes of Wrath in high school or I’d already know a lot about that time/place. Whoops.
8. A few things…being predictable and consistent; trying to never make my kid feel they aren’t good enough; and not fighting in front of them. Oh, and not doing anything to instill fear – we want to be their safe place to fall.
9. Dinner was not a picture of health but rather a reflection on the kind day (week) I had: Pizza, red wine and a chocolate chip cookie. Whoops, again.
10. No big plans but my Yin Yoga has an added hour of meditation this Sunday and I’m looking forward to that. J’s new coffeeshop passed health inspection today, and she said she might need me to help/work a bit for her (though I’m secretly hoping not to have to. Bad wife.) Oh, and dinner with friends tomorrow night!
BONUS PIP:
This is the first tattoo of J’s I saw, the night we first made out and I, ahem, got her shirt off. I was *so relieved* to see she had a tattoo. I don’t know why, but it made her feel kind of more ‘right’ for me. She has a good bit more now, most honor dead cats (yep, uber lesbo) – this one is a Bodhi tree for her cat Bodhi who got hit by a car when he was two.
