I have a little insight. Our son was very colicky up until we started using gerber soothe formula, which contains probiotics. He still is very fussy, but no where near how he used to be. I can tell he feels better overall, even though I don't know exactly what was bothering him. I heard probiotics are very good in general for digestion and they may help with your problem, idk. I wouldn't worry too much about the stinky factor. My sons poops and farts stink to high heaven since we changed his formula lol but he is healthier. Maybe just check with dr before starting probiotics.
Gerber Soothe Probiotics are great! I've only found them at Walgreens and there kinda expensive, about $30 for a small bottle. They used to be called BioGaia incase you want to look them up.
I use Culturelle for Kids probiotic packets (I get mine at Target)--you can put them in baby's bottle, mixed with BM or formula. I have been using them for my 4 yr old daughter since she was an infant, and I now use them with DS who is 11 wks old, and also very, very gassy. Since I've started him on the regimen, I think he's improved. I've noticed that with DD, the Culturelle keeps her "regular" and it also seems to help her immune system, and that's the main reason why I still give them to her.
I am new to this board coming from S13. Glad I saw this as I posted there about probiotics. I had a couple nurses recommend using probiotics for my fussy/gassy/sometimes constipated baby. They specifically recommended Biogaia. I called and Wallgreens is getting it in for me.
According to my research some babies are more sensitive to some of the other probiotics because they contain some milk, fish etc. Biogaia does not contain milk or fish. (The baby drops)
