How do you find daycare for a child with gross motor delays? Let me give some background: My DD is almost 2, just started walking at 18 months, never crawled, was a Torticollis baby, so she has gross motor delays and generally has poor balance, coordination etc. I have been SAH with her and need to go back to work. She's of the age where it would be nice for her to have some social interaction with other children and she really enjoys being around other kids. I spoke with her PT about this and she feels it would be a safety issue for her to be in a large daycare setting, and that we should try to find somewhere that has a very small ratio like 3:1. My assumption is that this will be pretty hard to find. I'm still looking for work and hoping to just go part-time, so perhaps a nanny/babysitter will have to be the route we go. However, I thought I would ask here if anyone has any recommendations. Again, her issues are ONLY gross motor, she doesn't have any social or other delays.
Re: Daycare for SN?
I did ask around at various daycare centers and all seemed open to having DS2 there but they would not have been able to guaranty any sort of one on one person with him...which he needed then (he still requires maximum assist for some things even now). I generally just felt better having my kids in in-home care vs a daycare center.
